Megan Thee Stallion has opened up about the emotional impact of her breakup with NBA player Klay Thompson, saying she remains in shock months after their relationship ended.
The Grammy-winning rapper, 31, and Thompson, 36, ended their relationship in April after dating for roughly a year. Megan discussed the breakup in a recent interview, saying she is not pretending to be completely okay and does not expect to pursue another relationship anytime soon.
“It was so abrupt. I’m in shock still,” Megan said while reflecting on the end of the relationship. She described the experience as unlike anything she had previously gone through and said she is giving herself time to process the emotions rather than rushing into another romance.
Megan said she had spent much of the relationship feeling constantly on edge. She described being in a state of panic and said she is still working through the emotional and physical effects of the breakup.
She also said the experience taught her to pay closer attention to her intuition. Megan acknowledged that she sometimes recognized concerns internally but continued giving the relationship the benefit of the doubt.
The couple’s relationship became public in 2025 after they were linked romantically. They were seen spending time together, attending events and sharing moments of their relationship before the split earlier this year.
Megan previously announced the breakup publicly and said that trust, fidelity and respect were non-negotiable in a relationship. She also made allegations concerning infidelity, while Thompson has largely remained private about the reasons for the separation.
In the months since the breakup, Megan has continued focusing on her music career. She recently released “Tina Tuesday Freestyle” and is working on the third act of her Megan album series, while continuing to build her career beyond her personal life.
Megan has also spoken about rediscovering herself after the relationship. In an earlier interview, she said she felt she had been losing herself and was now focused on finding her identity again and putting more energy into her music and creative work.
For now, Megan says dating is not a priority. Instead, she is allowing herself to experience the aftermath of the breakup without trying to rush the healing process, while continuing to focus on her career and upcoming music projects.
