Fluff Bakery’s Comeback Ends in Heartbreak as Big Mouth Bakehouse Closes for Good

Singapore’s beloved bakery story has reached another emotional turning point, with Big Mouth Bakehouse — the successor to the popular halal-certified Fluff Bakery — announcing that it has closed permanently, less than a year after its comeback.

Located at Wisma Geylang Serai, Big Mouth Bakehouse opened in January 2026, offering artisanal cakes, bomboloni, shio pan and other sweet and savoury treats. It was launched by husband-and-wife team Ashraf Alami and Nursyazanna Syaira, who had previously built a following through Fluff Bakery and its well-known cupcakes.

In an Instagram post on Oct 8, the bakery described the decision to close as “incredibly difficult”, acknowledging that the outcome was not what the team had hoped for.

“Sometimes, despite your best efforts, things happen that are simply beyond your control,” the business shared, reflecting on the end of another chapter.

The announcement also carried a particularly final message: unlike its previous closure, the team said there would be no new beginning this time.

“This time, there isn’t another door to open,” the bakery wrote.

From a 12-year bakery favourite to a final goodbye

Fluff Bakery closed in September 2025 after 12 years in business, citing financial difficulties. The closure was a disappointment for customers who had grown fond of its cupcakes and other baked goods.

The couple subsequently launched Big Mouth Bakehouse, introducing a broader menu that included savoury offerings alongside its signature-style treats. The new venture gave customers a chance to support the team again under a different name.

However, the bakery’s latest announcement suggests that this comeback has now come to an end.

Earlier this year, the couple was reported to still be paying off a six-figure debt accumulated during Fluff Bakery’s operations, highlighting the financial challenges that continued to weigh on the business.

A heartfelt thank-you to customers

In its farewell message, Big Mouth Bakehouse thanked customers for supporting the business throughout its 13-year journey, including those who purchased its products, sent encouraging messages and stayed with the team through periods of change.

The bakery also said it would fulfil all existing orders, offering reassurance to customers who had already placed them.

While the closure marks the end of the business, the team’s message reflects the lasting relationship it built with its supporters over the years.

For customers who followed Fluff Bakery from its early days and welcomed Big Mouth Bakehouse’s return, the latest announcement is another difficult goodbye — and a reminder that even much-loved local food businesses can face challenges that are difficult to overcome.
