Far Eastern University (FEU) has completed its P156-million investment in Bataan Peninsula Educational Institution, Inc. (BPEII), expanding its education network through a controlling stake in the operator of University of Nueva Caceres-Bataan.
The transaction was finalized after all closing conditions under the March 9 memorandum of agreement were fulfilled. FEU subscribed to 39,500 BPEII shares, giving it a 54.78% equity stake in the company, while also acquiring a 76.92% aliquot interest in the land where the school operates.
The deal also includes a shareholders’ agreement between FEU, BPEII and the school’s existing shareholders, formally completing the transaction that was first announced earlier this year.
The investment consists of P106 million for the BPEII shares and P50 million for the land interest, according to the original transaction structure. The completed deal strengthens FEU’s presence in Bataan and adds another campus to its growing education portfolio.
The expansion comes as FEU continues to broaden its investments beyond its established campuses. The group operates schools and education ventures in several locations and has also expanded into programs covering areas such as healthcare, business and artificial intelligence.
BPEII operates University of Nueva Caceres-Bataan, giving FEU a new platform to serve students in the province while increasing its exposure to the regional education market.
The completed investment reflects FEU’s continuing strategy of expanding its education footprint through partnerships, acquisitions and investments in institutions serving different student markets.
