Upbit Turns to AI to Explain Crypto Price Swings — But What’s Really Behind the Next Move?

South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange is bringing artificial intelligence deeper into crypto market analysis, giving users new tools designed to explain not just what is happening to digital-asset prices, but why.

Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, announced Oct. 2 that it is expanding Upbit Data Lab’s AI-powered market intelligence services, connecting market data and news to help users follow fast-moving developments across the 24-hour digital-asset market.

At the center of the upgrade are two new services: AI Market Report and Uptrace.

AI Turns Crypto Market Data Into 90-Second Reports

The AI Market Report is designed to give users a quick snapshot of broader cryptocurrency market conditions in videos lasting 90 seconds or less.

The system analyzes information including the Upbit Composite Index, prices of major digital assets, top gainers and decliners, and market sentiment indicators. It then uses price movements and market impact to identify major issues and summarize them.

The reports are scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. on weekdays through Upbit Data Lab and Upbit’s official YouTube channel.

Uptrace Goes After the Question Crypto Traders Keep Asking

The more targeted addition is Uptrace, an AI-based service designed to examine the factors associated with price movements in individual digital assets.

Instead of looking at a price chart in isolation, Uptrace connects an asset’s price changes with related news and provides AI-generated analysis of factors that may have influenced the move.

Users can view the price trend alongside related news and the AI analysis. On individual asset pages in Upbit Data Lab, a diamond icon on the chart can be selected to see analysis associated with a particular point in the price movement.

Upbit Also Reworks Its AI News System

Dunamu is also restructuring its existing AI News Briefing into Real-Time Issues and Topic NOW.

Real-Time Issues is designed to identify newly emerging cryptocurrency-related developments, classify them by topic and organize them according to importance.

Topic NOW, meanwhile, groups information scattered across multiple reports into broader themes. It summarizes the central points and tracks how an issue developed from its emergence to subsequent developments.

The expansion reflects a growing challenge in digital-asset markets: information moves around the clock, while users must sift through large volumes of market data and news.

Dunamu Chief Data Officer Kim Dae-hyun said the company intends to continue developing AI-based services to make complex digital-asset information easier and faster to understand.

The bigger shift is clear: Upbit is no longer using AI simply to summarize crypto news. Its latest tools are designed to connect price movements, market data and news in the same view, potentially giving users a faster way to investigate what was happening around a sudden market move.

But AI-generated analysis remains an interpretation of available information rather than a guarantee of what caused a price change or what will happen next. Upbit’s own AI-related service documentation also cautions that AI-generated information may contain errors or omissions and should not be treated as financial or investment advice.
