Filipino street food is getting an unexpected chocolate makeover as Auro Chocolate transforms familiar favorites such as isaw, pugo and balut into whimsical treats inspired by the country’s beloved roadside snacks.
The proudly Filipino tree-to-bar brand’s Filipino Street Food Collection reimagines the flavors, appearance and even the familiar presentation of street food in premium chocolate form. The collection includes Wow! Isaw, Pugo To-Go and Balut Chocolate, combining Filipino food culture with Auro’s approach to fine cacao and confectionery.
Pugo To-Go features nine chocolate quail-egg-shaped pieces filled with soft caramel and cashew praline ganache, enclosed in 42% milk chocolate shells. The presentation is designed to resemble the familiar cups of quail eggs commonly sold by street vendors.
The collection also gives isaw a completely different identity. Wow! Isaw takes inspiration from the iconic grilled street food and presents it as a chocolate creation, turning a distinctly savory Filipino snack into an unconventional sweet treat.
Balut receives perhaps the most playful transformation, with chocolate eggs designed around the familiar Filipino delicacy while replacing the traditional contents with a sweet chocolate experience.
The collection continues Auro’s use of Filipino ingredients and cultural references to tell stories through chocolate. The company works directly with local cacao farmers and has built an international presence for products highlighting Filipino cacao and flavors.
Auro’s street-food-inspired creations are currently available through its chocolate cafés and official online channels, with the collection also offered exclusively at Mitsukoshi Fresh.
By transforming foods that are deeply familiar to Filipinos into premium chocolate creations, Auro is giving everyday street-food culture a distinctly modern and playful presentation while bringing those local flavors to a wider audience.
