Two women aged 37 and 39 were arrested during a police enforcement operation at a massage establishment along Sims Avenue for their alleged involvement in vice-related activities.
The raid was conducted on Sept. 18 by officers from the Geylang Neighbourhood Police Centre and the Bedok Police Division’s compliance management unit. Police later said the two women were believed to be involved in activities linked to vice.
The arrests are part of wider enforcement efforts targeting illegal activities at massage establishments across Singapore. Police have continued conducting checks at such premises and have warned operators and individuals involved in unlawful activities that enforcement action will be taken.
The authorities have also urged members of the public not to participate in vice-related activities and to report suspected cases to the police.
The operation comes as Singapore tightens regulations governing massage establishments. Police announced earlier this year that licensing exemptions for certain open-concept massage establishments would be removed, with a new Category 3 licensing regime expected to bring additional requirements for these businesses.
Under the tightened framework, operators will face greater regulatory requirements, including standards relating to the suitability of operators and the conduct of businesses. The changes are intended to strengthen oversight of the massage establishment sector and address unlawful activities.
Recent enforcement operations elsewhere in Singapore have also resulted in arrests and investigations involving massage establishments suspected of facilitating vice activities, underscoring the authorities’ continued focus on the sector.
The two women arrested in the Sims Avenue operation remain subject to investigations, and police have not disclosed further details about the specific allegations against them.
