Police in Soccsksargen reported the seizure of about P1.6 million worth of suspected illegal drugs during a two-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO), with authorities also reporting the recovery of firearms and explosive-related items.
The operation was carried out by the Police Regional Office 12 (PRO-12) as part of its continuing campaign against illegal drugs, wanted persons and other criminal activities in the region.
Police said the operation resulted in the confiscation of suspected shabu, along with firearms and explosives-related items. The reported value of the seized illegal drugs was placed at approximately P1.6 million.
Authorities have not indicated that all of the seized items were necessarily connected to a single case. Instead, the SACLEO involved coordinated law-enforcement activities conducted across areas under PRO-12.
Police intensify anti-crime operations
SACLEO operations are designed to bring together different police units in simultaneous enforcement activities targeting various criminal offenses.
PRO-12 has previously reported significant results from similar operations. In a June 2024 SACLEO, police in the region reported confiscating approximately P2.2 million worth of suspected shabu, while also arresting wanted persons during the weekend operation.
The latest reported seizure therefore forms part of a broader pattern of intensified police operations in the region rather than an isolated anti-drug effort.
What the seizure means
The reported P1.6-million seizure highlights the continuing law-enforcement focus on illegal drug trafficking in the Soccsksargen area.
Police operations involving suspected illegal drugs, firearms and explosives can lead to multiple criminal investigations, with suspects subject to the appropriate legal process. A seizure or arrest, however, does not by itself establish guilt, and any accused person remains entitled to due process.
Authorities are expected to conduct further examination and documentation of the confiscated evidence as cases move forward.
Authorities continue regional crackdown
The Police Regional Office 12 has repeatedly used coordinated operations to pursue suspected drug activity, wanted individuals and other criminal offenses.
Previous PRO-12 operations have also produced drug seizures and arrests, underscoring the police’s continued reliance on simultaneous enforcement campaigns to address crime across the region.
For communities in Soccsksargen, the latest operation puts renewed attention on the region’s continuing battle against illegal drugs and other forms of criminal activity.
