The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has donated P10 million to the Philippine Red Cross to support its continuing health and humanitarian operations for communities in need.
The donation was part of a P40-million contribution from the central bank to four health and humanitarian institutions. The Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine General Hospital and Philippine Red Cross each received P10 million.
The funds are intended to support organizations providing essential medical and humanitarian services, particularly to underserved and vulnerable Filipinos. The turnover took place at the BSP Head Office on Sept. 22, led by BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. and Deputy Governor Elmore Capule.
Remolona personally handed the Red Cross donation to Chairman Richard Gordon during the ceremony. The contribution comes as the organization continues deploying personnel and resources for emergency response, medical assistance and humanitarian operations across the country.
The BSP said its support for medical and humanitarian institutions has been part of its corporate social responsibility efforts for more than a decade, reflecting its broader partnership with organizations serving communities with limited access to essential services.
The latest contribution highlights the role of partnerships between government institutions and humanitarian organizations in strengthening health services and emergency assistance, particularly for vulnerable communities affected by disasters and other emergencies.
