Taiwan Receipt Lottery Shock: A NT$10 Purchase Just Won NT$10 Million

A tiny purchase turned into a life-changing windfall for two people in Taiwan, after receipts worth just NT$10 (about US$0.31) each were selected for the government’s NT$10 million Special Prize in the latest receipt lottery.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance announced 17 Special Prize-winning receipts and 11 Grand Prize-winning receipts for the July-August uniform-invoice lottery period. The winning numbers were 89996565 for the NT$10 million Special Prize and 91098182 for the NT$2 million Grand Prize.

Among the winners, one NT$10 receipt came from an Uber processing fee, while another was issued by a FamilyMart store in Tainan’s Yanshui District for a cup of milk tea.

The extraordinarily small purchases weren’t the only low-value receipts to hit the jackpot. Other NT$10 million winners included an NT$27 purchase at a 7-Eleven in Taipei, a NT$29 food purchase in Taoyuan, and a NT$33 food purchase at a 7-Eleven in Kaohsiung.

A NT$37 sports drink purchased at Simple Mart in New Taipei and a NT$45 black tea from Kebuke in Taipei also turned into NT$10 million prizes.

But the biggest purchase among the Special Prize winners was dramatically different. A shopper who spent NT$24,000 on a wallet at Loewe’s counter at Breeze Nan Shan in Taipei also received a NT$10 million prize.

Convenience stores and retail chains featured heavily among the winners. 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Hi-Life and PX Mart together accounted for nine of the 17 Special Prize-winning receipts, according to the report.

The Taiwanese government’s uniform-invoice lottery is designed to encourage consumers to request official receipts when making purchases. Even extremely small transactions can therefore carry the possibility of a major prize.

Winners of the latest prizes can claim them from October 6, 2026, through January 5, 2027.

For people who store receipts digitally using a mobile barcode or another electronic carrier, Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance also allows eligible winners to use its prize-redemption app to arrange automatic bank transfers and claim prizes without printing paper receipts.

The latest results offer an eye-catching reminder: in Taiwan’s receipt lottery, the size of the purchase does not determine the size of the prize.

For two winners, a receipt worth only NT$10 has now become a potential NT$10 million payday.
