Girl, 11, Involved in Yishun Carpark Accident as Police Investigate

An 11-year-old girl was taken to hospital after being hit by a car at a residential carpark in Yishun, Singapore, prompting an ongoing police investigation into the accident.

The incident occurred at around 1.15pm on October 7, 2026, near Block 813A Yishun Ring Road. The girl was reportedly injured during the after-school period, when traffic and pedestrian activity can be busy around residential areas.

According to Singapore police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), emergency services were alerted to a traffic accident involving a car and a pedestrian. The girl was conveyed to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital while conscious.

A 62-year-old man believed to have been driving the car is assisting police with their investigations. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the collision.

Distressing Footage Shows Emergency Crews Attending to the Girl

The incident drew attention after footage circulated on Instagram through the account sgfollowsall.

The video showed several people gathered around a girl lying on the ground, with uniformed emergency personnel attending to her. A person was also seen holding a purple umbrella over the injured child, while an ambulance and other vehicles were positioned nearby.

According to the account’s accompanying post, the girl had allegedly been jaywalking when the accident occurred. The post also claimed that she tried to move after being struck but could not because of intense pain.

These details came from a social media account and have not been independently confirmed by police. The exact circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation.

The footage attracted significant online attention, prompting concern among viewers about the child’s condition and pedestrian safety around residential carparks.

Girl Taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital

SCDF confirmed that it responded to the accident and conveyed the 11-year-old pedestrian to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Police said the girl was conscious when she was taken to hospital. However, no further information about the severity of her injuries or her subsequent condition was provided in the reports published on October 8.

The driver, a 62-year-old man, is assisting with ongoing investigations. This does not in itself establish that he was at fault, and police have not announced any charges in connection with the incident.

Pedestrian Safety Concerns Around HDB Carparks

The accident has renewed attention on pedestrian safety in residential estates, where vehicles frequently share space with residents walking to schools, bus stops, shops and nearby amenities.

Children can be particularly vulnerable around carparks because parked vehicles, turning cars and other obstructions may limit visibility. Drivers also need to remain alert for pedestrians who may enter their path unexpectedly.

Singapore’s Traffic Police and road-safety authorities regularly remind motorists to drive cautiously, particularly in areas where children and elderly pedestrians are likely to be present.

Pedestrians should use designated crossings and walkways where available, avoid emerging suddenly from between parked vehicles, and check carefully for approaching traffic before crossing.

Motorists, meanwhile, should reduce their speed in residential carparks, watch for blind spots and remain prepared to stop when pedestrians are nearby.

Police Investigation Ongoing

As of the latest reports, police investigations into the Yishun accident were continuing.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the precise sequence of events, whether the girl was crossing at a designated location or what actions immediately preceded the collision.

Until further information is released, claims circulating online about how the accident happened should be treated with caution.

The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of vigilance around residential roads and carparks, particularly where young children may be walking.

For now, attention remains on the injured girl as investigators work to establish what happened and determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
