More than two decades after their last full-group activities, legendary first-generation K-pop girl group Fin.K.L is preparing for a new chapter — reuniting all four original members under the name that helped define an era of Korean pop music.
The group’s agency, Gemstone E&M, announced that Lee Hyo-ri, Ock Joo-hyun, Lee Jin and Sung Yu-ri have reunited and are preparing for group activities. The agency emphasized that this is intended as more than a one-time reunion.
Fin.K.L originally debuted in 1998, becoming one of the influential girl groups of the late-1990s and early-2000s K-pop scene. Their catalog included well-known songs such as “Blue Rain,” “To My Boyfriend” and “Eternal Love,” helping establish the sound and image of first-generation K-pop girl groups.
Their last full-group performance came in 2005, when the quartet released the digital single Forever Fin.K.L. The members later reunited in 2019 for JTBC’s Camping Club, but that appearance was connected to the television project rather than a full return to group activities.
Now, 21 years after their last full-group activities, Fin.K.L’s return arrives at a time when interest in K-pop’s earlier generations continues to connect with today’s global audience.
The reunion also highlights the group’s unusually long-lasting bond. The four members have continued to cross paths over the years, including a gathering earlier this year to support Lee Hyo-ri following the death of her father.
For longtime fans, the announcement is more than a nostalgic flashback. It raises a much bigger question: what will Fin.K.L’s first new chapter together look like after 21 years?
With all four original members back under the Fin.K.L name, one of K-pop’s most recognizable first-generation groups is once again preparing to step into the spotlight — and fans now have a new reason to watch what comes next.
