Dolly Parton’s Cup of Ambition Coffee Launches Weeks After Her Death

Dolly Parton’s long-awaited Cup of Ambition coffee brand has officially launched weeks after the country music icon’s death, bringing one of her final business projects to consumers.

Parton, who died at 80 on August 25, had been developing the coffee line for years. The brand officially launched nationwide on September 29 to coincide with National Coffee Day in the United States.

Cup of Ambition was inspired by Parton’s hit song “9 to 5” and was created in partnership with family-owned Community Coffee. The collection includes Light, Medium and Dark Roast varieties, with ground coffee available and K-Cup pods also being offered for pre-order.

Parton had described the coffee as a dream she had been working toward for more than 40 years. She first introduced the brand publicly in June alongside the opening of Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in Tennessee, where the coffee was initially served.

The singer also personally participated in the marketing campaign before her death. In July, she filmed three commercials for the coffee, with the first released as part of the September 29 launch. The advertisement shows Parton preparing for her day while playing a pink guitar and enjoying a cup of her new coffee.

Community Coffee executive Donna Saurage said the partnership reflected shared values around family, community and bringing people together. The company worked directly with Parton while she was developing the coffee range and said it was a privilege to help bring her idea to market.

Parton’s team has said the launch was planned before her death and is part of a broader roadmap of projects she had been developing. Her longtime manager Danny Nozell said many projects were already at different stages of development and would continue to be released with her personal involvement and approval.

The Cup of Ambition launch is also connected to Parton’s longstanding philanthropic work. Proceeds from the coffee will support her Imagination Library, the literacy programme that provides books to young children. Community Coffee will also support the programme through funding in Louisiana.

The launch campaign includes a Sip & Sample Tour featuring the Dolly Coffee Trolley and coffee carts at venues across the southeastern United States. Stops include the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Vanderbilt University, the Grand Ole Opry and several universities.

Cup of Ambition is among several projects connected to Parton that are continuing after her death. Her team has also outlined future music, television, film, publishing and entertainment projects, reflecting the extensive body of work she had planned before her passing.

The coffee launch therefore marks more than the arrival of a new celebrity-branded product. It is one of the projects Parton personally helped develop during her lifetime and one that her team is now carrying forward as part of her continuing creative and philanthropic legacy.
