Baekhyun and JJ Lin Surprise Taipei Fans With Mandarin Duet at Krazy Music Festival

EXO’s Baekhyun and Singaporean singer JJ Lin delivered one of the surprise moments of the Krazy Music Festival in Taipei after joining forces for an unexpected Mandarin duet.

The two artists appeared together on Sept. 27 during the second day of the festival at Dajia Riverside Park, where they had originally been scheduled to perform separate sets. JJ Lin later invited Baekhyun back onto the stage for a special collaboration.

The pair performed JJ Lin’s 2020 song “No Turning Back,” with Baekhyun singing in Mandarin alongside the Singaporean singer. His pronunciation and vocal delivery drew an enthusiastic response from the audience and quickly generated attention among fans online.

The collaboration was particularly notable because it was their first live performance together. After the duet, Baekhyun revealed that JJ Lin had initiated the invitation.

Baekhyun told JJ that he was honoured the singer knew his name and had asked him to perform together. JJ responded by saying he had enjoyed Baekhyun’s earlier performance and hoped they would have another opportunity to work together.

The exchange then turned toward the possibility of a future musical collaboration.

Baekhyun said he was familiar with JJ Lin’s songs and lyrics and expressed interest in releasing a song together. JJ joked that he would need to learn more Korean, while Baekhyun replied that he would learn Mandarin.

The two ended the exchange by agreeing to learn from each other and expressing interest in working together again.

Baekhyun had performed a selection of his solo material earlier in the evening, including “Take You Home,” “Candy,” “Paranoia,” “Rendezvous,” “Chocolate” and “Elevator.” JJ Lin followed with several of his own hits as well as “Careful with Fate,” his 2026 song from the Chinese drama “Pursuit of Jade.”

The festival’s second day also featured performances from ITZY, DPR IAN and WONPIL, while the first day included artists such as TAEMIN, BoA, CNBLUE, SUNMI, PENTAGON, WOODZ and P1Harmony.

The surprise duet gave the Taipei festival an unexpected cross-border K-pop and Mandopop moment, bringing together two established performers from different music scenes.

For fans, however, the performance may have been more than a one-night collaboration. Both singers left open the possibility of creating music together in the future, raising anticipation over whether their first live duet could eventually lead to an official song.
