Two South Korean entertainment stars are taking their relationship to the next level.
Actress and “Running Man” regular Ji Ye-eun and choreographer Vata are set to marry on Dec. 12, 2026, according to their respective agencies. The wedding date also falls on Vata’s birthday.
From church friends to husband and wife
The couple’s agencies announced the marriage on Sept. 2, saying Ji Ye-eun and Vata had decided to spend their lives together based on deep trust, love and mutual support. Vata’s agency ARA described the next chapter as a new journey as husband and wife.
The couple, both born in 1994, reportedly first became close as church friends before their relationship developed into romance. Their agencies publicly confirmed that they were dating on April 13, 2026.
That makes the wedding announcement especially notable: their publicly confirmed romance is moving toward marriage within the same year.
Their relationship was already connected to the stage
Fans had another reason to pay attention to the pair before their relationship became official.
Vata, the leader of dance crew We Dem Boyz, worked on the choreography for “Milkshake,” a 2025 project involving Ji Ye-eun and her “Running Man” colleague Ji Seok-jin. The pair were also seen in connection with the project at Waterbomb Seoul 2025.
Vata became widely known after We Dem Boyz finished as runners-up on Mnet’s “Street Man Fighter” in 2022. He has subsequently worked on choreography for major K-pop releases, including BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s “like JENNIE.”
Ji Ye-eun’s rise from comedy to ‘Running Man’ favorite
Ji Ye-eun debuted in 2017 through the web drama “How To” before gaining broader recognition through “SNL Korea.”
Her quick-witted variety-show personality eventually made her a familiar face on SBS’s long-running “Running Man,” where she has become a regular cast member.
She has also appeared in other entertainment productions, including “Kian’s Bizarre B&B,” “Jae-seok’s B&B Rules!” and the drama “Good Partner.”
One important correction to the AsiaOne report
There is a date discrepancy worth flagging for accuracy.
AsiaOne’s Sept. 2 article states that Ji Ye-eun and Vata announced their relationship in April 2025.
However, multiple Korean and international reports—including Yonhap, Korea JoongAng Daily, SBS and The Korea Times—consistently identify April 13, 2026 as the date their agencies publicly confirmed the relationship.
For an accurate publication, April 13, 2026 should be used as the public relationship-confirmation date. The couple may have developed feelings earlier, but that is different from the date their agencies officially acknowledged the relationship.
The wedding is now the next big chapter
The agencies have confirmed the Dec. 12 wedding, but reports describe the ceremony as a private event in Seoul rather than a large public spectacle.
For fans who watched Ji Ye-eun’s rise on “Running Man,” the news represents a very different chapter for the variety star: from church friendship and creative collaboration to a publicly confirmed romance — and now marriage.
And with the wedding date set for December, attention is likely to turn to one question: what will Ji Ye-eun and Vata’s big day look like when the “Running Man” favorite finally walks down the aisle?
