Nexon Takes ARC Raiders and The Finals to Film and TV — But Which Game Will Hit Screens First?

Nexon is taking two of its biggest gaming properties beyond consoles and PCs, partnering with Hollywood production company Chernin Entertainment to develop film and television adaptations of ARC Raiders and The Finals.

The agreement puts Chernin Entertainment in charge of leading screen projects based on the two games, both developed by Nexon subsidiary Embark Studios. Financial details and release schedules have not yet been revealed.

The move marks a major expansion for ARC Raiders, the post-apocalyptic survival action game that has already become a global hit. Since its October 2025 launch, the title has surpassed 16 million copies sold worldwide and reached more than 700,000 concurrent players across platforms within its first two weeks. It has also collected major industry awards, including Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards.

The Finals brings a completely different world to the partnership. The team-based first-person shooter is built around a fictional combat game show featuring highly destructible arenas inspired by real-world locations such as Monaco and Las Vegas. Nexon says the game has attracted more than 30 million cumulative players since its launch.

The partnership is also notable because Embark Studios will remain closely involved. Its creative teams are expected to work with Chernin throughout the production process, with the goal of carrying the games’ distinctive worlds and creative identity into new formats.

Chernin Entertainment, part of The North Road Company, has previously been involved with major productions including Ford v Ferrari, Hidden Figures, The Greatest Showman and the Planet of the Apes franchise.

For Nexon, the deal represents a broader push toward transmedia entertainment, allowing established game worlds to reach audiences who may never have played them.

But there is still a major question hanging over the announcement: Nexon has not said whether ARC Raiders or The Finals will arrive first, who will star in them, or exactly when audiences will see either adaptation.

With both games already boasting millions of players, the screen adaptations could turn two successful gaming properties into much larger entertainment franchises.

And the biggest surprise may be which one Hollywood chooses to bring to life first.
