Quezon and In Thy Name Lead 74th FAMAS Awards With 12 Nominations Each

Quezon and In Thy Name emerged as the leading contenders at the 74th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards after receiving 12 nominations each, setting the stage for one of the most closely watched nights in Philippine cinema.

Sunshine followed with eight nominations, while Manila’s Finest collected seven. I’mPerfect and Bar Boys After School each received five nominations, giving several of the year’s notable Filipino films multiple opportunities to take home major awards.

The Best Picture lineup includes Quezon, I’mPerfect, Sunshine, Magellan and In Thy Name. The Best Director category features Jerrold Tarog for Quezon, Caesar Soriano for In Thy Name, Antoinette Jadaone for Sunshine, Sigrid Andrea Bernardo for I’mPerfect and Kip Oebanda for Bar Boys After School.

The acting categories also feature some of the Philippines’ most recognizable performers. Jericho Rosales earned a Best Actor nomination for Quezon, alongside Piolo Pascual for Manila’s Finest, Earl Jonathan Amaba for I’mPerfect, Carlo Aquino for Bar Boys After School and McCoy De Leon for In Thy Name.

The Best Actress nominees are Maricel Soriano for Meet, Greet & Bye, Krystel Go for I’mPerfect, Charo Santos for Only We Know, Angelica Panganiban for Unmarry and Maris Racal for Sunshine.

Quezon and In Thy Name also feature prominently across technical categories, including screenplay, editing, production design, cinematography, sound, musical score and visual effects. Quezon’s nominations additionally include acting recognition for Karylle and Mon Confiado.

Other notable nominees include Will Ashley and JC De Vera in Best Supporting Actor, while Odette Khan, Rochelle Pangilinan, Elora Españo, Karylle and Jennica Garcia are nominated for Best Supporting Actress. The Best Child Performer category includes Zac Sibug, Annika Co and Lucas Andalio.

The 74th FAMAS Awards is scheduled for October 27 at The Manila Hotel, where the winners across the major acting, filmmaking and technical categories will be announced.

With Quezon and In Thy Name tied at the top with 12 nominations apiece, the upcoming ceremony is set to spotlight the breadth of Philippine filmmaking, from historical drama and contemporary stories to films competing for recognition in the country’s major cinematic categories.
