Bangkok’s SET Is Eyeing 1,600 — But Banks and DELTA Still Have to Deliver

BANGKOK — Thailand’s benchmark kept a modest bid through Friday morning after Thursday’s sharp rebound, with the SET Index around 1,586.89 by the mid-session close — up 3.55 points, or 0.22%, on about THB 25.85 billion of turnover, according to market coverage from Kaohoon International.

Brokers framed the move as a follow-through, not a fresh catalyst day. FSS International Investment Advisory Securities (FSSIA) said softer U.S. yields and easing crude after the Federal Reserve’s latest decision helped technology names, while shipping stocks also advanced on still-elevated freight rates. The desk’s near-term map put support near 1,576 and resistance around 1,590–1,595.

Trading concentrated in familiar liquidity names. DELTA traded about THB 243, up 1.25%, with the heaviest cash flow near THB 2.33 billion. Banks stayed active: KTB near THB 45.25, TTB near THB 3.16, SCB near THB 152.50, while KBANK held around THB 253.

Separately, Finansia Syrus Securities executive director Kantara Ladawan na Ayutthaya told Kaohoon’s program that Thursday’s rebound of more than 20 points and a break above 1,572 resistance had improved sentiment enough for the index to test 1,600 or the early 1,600s — if rate clarity and oil stay cooperative. Finansia’s short-term band sits roughly 1,570–1,600, with a selective “buy on dip” bias toward power, tourism, and banking themes, and stock picks including HANA, ITC, PR9, STA, and DELTA (Finansia’s 2027 target on DELTA: THB 290).

Bottom line: Bangkok has momentum after reclaiming key resistance, but Friday’s tape looks like digestion. Watch whether SET can hold above the mid-1,570s into the close — and whether DELTA and the bank complex keep funding the 1,600 narrative without a fresh macro scare.
