MANILA, Philippines — Filipino beauty queen Sasha-Juli Belle Lacuna is gearing up for an international competition as she prepares to represent the Philippines at The Miss Globe 2026 in Phuket, Thailand, with hopes of adding another prestigious title to the country’s pageant achievements.
Lacuna, who earned the Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2026 crown, is among the delegates expected to compete in the international pageant scheduled from October 24 to November 7. The competition will bring together contestants from different countries to showcase their beauty, confidence, cultural identity and advocacy work.
According to reports from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the beauty queen is excited about Thailand’s hosting of the competition, which will put the spotlight on the country and its international pageant community.
Sasha Lacuna’s International Pageant Journey
Lacuna secured her national title during the 62nd edition of Binibining Pilipinas, held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on July 18, 2026.
She was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2026, while Gwendoline Meliz Soriano of Baguio City won the Binibining Pilipinas International title.
Her victory marked a significant milestone in her pageant journey, giving her the opportunity to represent the country on an international stage.
In an interview with Philstar.com, Lacuna shared that she had previously been involved in campus journalism, including cartooning during her high school years. She is also pursuing an information technology degree at Southville International School and Colleges in Las Piñas.
The 22-year-old beauty queen grew up on a farm in Tarlac City and began her pageant journey through local competitions in 2024.
Her background reflects a combination of academic pursuits, creative interests and pageant experience that she can bring to the international competition.
Why Thailand’s Hosting Matters
Thailand’s selection as host adds another dimension to this year’s Miss Globe competition.
GMA News Online reported in February that Phuket would host the 2026 edition, with organizers announcing a partnership with Nawat Itsaragrisil and Miss Grand International for a new chapter in the pageant’s development.
The event is scheduled to run from October 24 to November 7, placing international delegates in one of Thailand’s most recognized tourist destinations.
For the Philippines, the competition offers an opportunity to showcase Filipino culture and talent before an international audience.
Can the Philippines Win Its Third Miss Globe Crown?
Lacuna will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of two Filipinas who previously won The Miss Globe title: Ann Colis in 2015 and Maureen Montagne in 2021.
A third victory would strengthen the Philippines’ record in the competition and add another achievement to the country’s international pageant history.
The challenge, however, will be substantial. Lacuna will need to stand out among delegates from other countries, demonstrating not only stage presence and communication skills but also the personality and purpose expected of an international titleholder.
In preparation for the competition, she has expressed her intention to study previous editions of the pageant and understand what the organization looks for in its next winner.
Filipino Pageant Fans Rally Behind Lacuna
Support for Lacuna is also building ahead of the competition. GMA News Online reported in October that the Binibining Pilipinas organization had called on Filipino pageant fans to vote for the country’s representative.
The campaign gives supporters another way to participate in her international journey while the beauty queen prepares for the event.
As the competition approaches, Lacuna’s performance will be closely watched by pageant enthusiasts hoping to see another Filipina bring home an international crown.
For the Tarlac beauty queen, the challenge goes beyond winning a title. It is an opportunity to represent the Philippines, share her story and demonstrate what Filipino women can bring to the global stage.
The question now is whether Sasha Lacuna can turn her Binibining Pilipinas victory into another historic moment for the Philippines at The Miss Globe 2026.
