A playful moment involving Zhang Linghe, Jackson Wang and Zhou Shen at the Greater Bay Area Film & Music Gala in Macau has become one of the event’s most talked-about moments online.
The three entertainers were among the stars gathered at the Galaxy Arena on September 20 for the 2026 gala, which brought together more than 130 filmmakers and musicians from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas. The event was themed “We, One Family.”
But it was an unscripted-looking moment on stage that caught social media users’ attention.
Videos circulating online showed Zhou Shen and Jackson Wang standing near the center of the stage before Zhang Linghe entered for the next segment. Once Linghe took his position, his reported 190cm height made it difficult for Zhou Shen, who is around 161cm, to remain visible behind him.
Jackson, who is about 174cm tall, also appeared to marvel at the dramatic height difference. Social media users attempted to read his lips, with many interpreting his reaction as an expression of disbelief over how tall Linghe is.
The moment quickly sparked jokes online, with the hashtag “Zhang Linghe, you’re blocking Zhou Shen” trending on Weibo. Fans also shared older clips highlighting the striking height difference between Linghe and Zhou Shen.
Beyond the viral interaction, the Macau gala featured a major lineup of Chinese and overseas Chinese entertainers, including Zhou Shen, Jackson Wang, Zhang Linghe, Wang Leehom, Joey Yung, Eric Chou and others. Linghe also served as one of the event’s hosts.
The four-hour-plus program combined music, film and dance performances and centered on themes of family, cultural connection and unity across the Greater Bay Area and Chinese-speaking communities.
