MANILA, Philippines — What happens when an old “what if” suddenly takes center stage?
That question once again had fans talking after Yeng Constantino personally serenaded Ryan Bang during her milestone “Biyaheng Bente” concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on August 29.
During the performance, Yeng went down from the stage and sang “Sabihin Mo Na” directly to Ryan, who was seated in the audience. The playful moment became one of the most talked-about portions of the concert, especially because of the two celebrities’ well-known history.
The scene became even more entertaining with Vice Ganda sitting beside Ryan, visibly reacting to the unexpected serenade.
Cornerstone Entertainment later shared the moment online with the teasing caption: “SABIHIN MO NA KASI RYAN!” The clip quickly drew attention from fans who remembered the story behind Yeng and Ryan’s once-unresolved romantic possibility.
The song choice was no coincidence
While the moment generated plenty of “kilig” reactions online, the performance was also a playful callback to a story Yeng and Ryan had previously discussed publicly.
Back in 2010, Ryan had reportedly courted Yeng. According to accounts later shared by the two, Ryan would bring Yeng coffee while pursuing her.
The courtship eventually stopped, however, after both sides misunderstood what was happening.
Yeng previously explained that she did not believe she had rejected Ryan. From her perspective, Ryan simply stopped communicating, leading her to believe that he had lost interest.
Ryan, meanwhile, had apparently interpreted Yeng’s response differently and believed she was not interested in him.
Years later, the two finally addressed the misunderstanding during an episode of “It’s Showtime” in 2022, putting a humorous form of closure to the “what if” romance that had fascinated fans.
From an old misunderstanding to a viral concert moment
That history gave Yeng’s Araneta serenade an entirely different meaning.
Rather than simply being another song in the concert setlist, “Sabihin Mo Na” became a playful nod to one of the most memorable chapters in their showbiz friendship.
A concert review by Manila Concert Scene described the segment as one of the biggest highlights of the show, noting that Ryan was suddenly placed in the spotlight as Yeng performed the song while Vice Ganda was also in attendance.
The moment also showed how an awkward chapter from years ago had evolved into something both Yeng and Ryan could laugh about in front of a packed arena.
Yeng’s “Biyaheng Bente” celebrates 20 years in music
The Ryan Bang moment was only one part of Yeng’s two-night “Biyaheng Bente” concert, which celebrated two decades since she rose to prominence after winning the inaugural season of “Pinoy Dream Academy” in 2006.
The concert brought together several artists connected to Yeng’s musical journey.
Among the featured performers were RJ Jimenez, Kyla, Sam Milby, Ogie Alcasid, mrld, Angela Ken, Janine Berdin and others. The setlist also featured several of Yeng’s best-known songs, including “Hawak Kamay,” “Salamat,” “Jeepney Love Story,” “Ikaw” and “Sigabo.”
The concert also produced another emotional reunion when Yeng and fellow “Pinoy Dream Academy” alum RJ Jimenez revisited their own complicated history onstage.
Another ‘what if’ story resurfaced
During the second night of the concert, Yeng and RJ opened up about the years they spent without communicating.
PEP reported that the two had not spoken for approximately 18 years before their reunion. Their conversation revealed that there had been unresolved feelings and misunderstandings between them during their “Pinoy Dream Academy” days.
Yeng admitted that jealousy and pride had contributed to her decision to distance herself from RJ.
She also joked that she had experienced a similar “seen-zone” situation with Ryan Bang, turning the emotional reunion into another lighthearted moment for the audience.
The back-to-back revelations made “Biyaheng Bente” more than a celebration of Yeng’s music career. For many fans, it also became a nostalgic trip through the relationships, friendships and “what ifs” that accompanied her journey in show business.
So, is there really something going on between Yeng and Ryan?
Not according to the facts currently available.
The viral serenade is best understood as a playful concert moment and callback to their old courtship story, rather than evidence of a rekindled romance.
Yeng has been married to musician and songwriter Victor “Yan” Asuncion since 2015. Ryan, meanwhile, has also moved on from his previous relationship with Paola Huyong. PEP reported that Ryan and Huyong, who became engaged in 2024, ended their relationship in January 2026.
Still, the fact that an old “what if” can return years later as a packed-arena punchline explains why the clip resonated so strongly with fans.
For Yeng and Ryan, the story may have already found its closure.
For the internet, however, “Sabihin Mo Na” may have just reopened the conversation.
