Vacheron Constantin Celebrates 30 Years of the Overseas Collection With a Limited-Edition Perpetual Calendar

Vacheron Constantin is marking the 30th anniversary of its Overseas collection with a new limited-edition Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, bringing together the line’s sporty character and one of the Swiss maison’s most sophisticated complications.

First introduced in 1996, the Overseas collection was created as a modern sport-luxury watch with a strong connection to travel and exploration. Its design evolved from the earlier 222, launched in 1977, while later generations refined the distinctive Maltese-cross-inspired bezel and integrated bracelet.

For the anniversary edition, Vacheron Constantin has chosen an azure-blue dial paired with a 41.5mm white-gold case. The watch measures only about 8.1mm thick, giving the perpetual-calendar timepiece a notably slim profile.

The blue dial features a sunburst and lacquered finish, with white and light-blue details that provide contrast against the rich background. Applied hour markers are treated with Super-LumiNova, helping maintain legibility in low-light conditions.

Inside is Vacheron Constantin’s Calibre 1120 QP/1, an automatic perpetual-calendar movement measuring just 4.05mm thick. The mechanism displays the date, day, month, moon phase and leap-year indication while maintaining the slim proportions of the watch.

The movement can be viewed through a transparent sapphire-crystal caseback, allowing collectors to see its finishing and intricate mechanical construction.

Only 200 examples of the anniversary model will be produced, making the watch a limited-edition tribute to three decades of the Overseas collection.

The model also reflects the broader evolution of the Overseas line. When the collection was redesigned in 2016, Vacheron Constantin introduced a quick-change system that allowed owners to switch between the metal bracelet, leather straps and rubber straps without requiring tools. The system has become one of the collection’s defining practical features.

Beyond the anniversary piece, the Overseas collection continues to span a wide range of complications and materials, including self-winding models, chronographs, dual-time watches, moon-phase displays and high-jewellery versions.

The 30th-anniversary edition therefore looks back to the collection’s original identity while incorporating the technical refinement associated with Vacheron Constantin’s modern watchmaking. With its slim perpetual-calendar movement, white-gold case and distinctive azure-blue dial, the limited edition connects the Overseas’ three decades of history with the maison’s continuing focus on contemporary luxury watchmaking.
