Two 15-year-old boys died after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a Southern Star Bus in Garcia-Hernandez, Bohol, on Sunday noon, September 20, 2026.
The crash happened at around 12:03 p.m. along Purok 7 in Barangay West Poblacion.
According to the initial investigation by the Garcia-Hernandez Municipal Police Station, the two victims were traveling toward the town of Jagna aboard a Skygo motorcycle when they attempted to overtake a speeding pickup truck.
While carrying out the overtaking maneuver, they encountered the oncoming Southern Star Bus, resulting in a collision.
The impact reportedly threw both teenagers from the motorcycle and caused severe injuries to their bodies and heads.
Emergency personnel immediately responded to the scene, but Municipal Health Officer Dr. Enriquito Acenas declared both victims dead at the scene.
The bus driver was identified as 40-year-old Candelario Salmasan of Barangay Loctob, Valencia, Bohol. Police said he is currently in custody as authorities prepare a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and damage to property.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and determine the parties’ respective liabilities.
