Hong Kong actress Eva Lai has announced that she plans to marry again in 2027, marking a new chapter in her personal life at the age of 62.
Lai shared the news during an appearance on a Hong Kong television programme on Sept. 28, where she spoke about her relationship with her boyfriend. She said their romance was not something she deliberately searched for, describing it instead as a matter of fate.
The couple have known each other for more than 20 years through their church community. They remained friends for many years before their relationship became romantic in recent years. When asked about their wedding plans, Lai confirmed that they intend to get married next year.
Lai, who won the inaugural Miss Asia Pageant in 1985, previously married actor and martial artist Tony Liu, also known as Lau Wing, in 1992. They have a son and a daughter together. Their marriage later broke down, and the couple officially divorced in 2004.
Following the end of her marriage, Lai raised her children as a single mother. She has since become a grandmother, and she said her children are supportive of her current relationship and have spoken positively about her partner.
Lai has continued to make appearances in Hong Kong television and film productions over the years, including supporting and guest roles in series such as Flying Tiger 2, Forensic Heroes IV and The Queen of News. Her film credits include Love in a Fallen City and Thou Shalt Not Swear.
Her announcement has drawn attention not only because of her return to marriage but also because of the long history she shares with her future husband. After knowing each other for more than two decades, the pair are now preparing to begin married life together in 2027.
