Seoul Takes Arisu Tap Water Campaign to Han River With a New Autumn Night Experience

Seoul is bringing its Arisu tap-water campaign to the Han River, turning an ordinary evening by the water into an opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the city’s tap water firsthand.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will operate its second “Beautiful Arisu” (아리땁다 아리수) pop-up store at the event plaza of Yeouido Hangang Park from October 2 to 11, running every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The autumn-themed event is designed around a “Han River autumn night picnic,” combining Arisu drinking experiences with games, relaxation and nighttime sightseeing.

Arisu Meets Seoul’s Famous Han River Nights

Visitors will be able to move through different themed areas, including game, café, healing and photo zones.

The pop-up is designed to make trying Arisu part of a broader evening experience rather than simply a tap-water promotion.

Visitors who bring their own tumblers can also use the refill zone to drink Arisu, while the event will feature a selection of promotional goods and picnic-related items.

The program is also connected to Seoul’s broader nighttime economy initiative, which aims to encourage more evening activity around the Han River.

A Second Arisu Pop-Up After Thousands Visited

The upcoming event follows the first Arisu pop-up held in June.

According to Korean media reports, the first event attracted 7,410 visitors, while 93.4% of respondents who participated in a satisfaction survey said their perception of Arisu became more positive after taking part.

Seoul’s Arisu campaign promotes the city’s tap water through public tasting and educational experiences. The Seoul Arisu headquarters says its water is subject to extensive quality monitoring, with its campaign information highlighting testing across hundreds of water-quality parameters.

Seoul also published its 2025 Arisu Quality Report in July, reporting that more than 5,400 water-quality tests covering purification facilities, faucets and public-use facilities met drinking-water standards.

Why the Han River Location Matters

The Han River is one of Seoul’s most recognizable public spaces, attracting residents and international visitors for picnics, recreation and nighttime views.

By taking the Arisu campaign directly to the riverbanks, Seoul is combining its tap-water promotion with one of the city’s most popular leisure destinations.

Kwon Min, head of the Seoul Arisu headquarters, said the Han River is a major destination for both Seoul residents and visitors and expressed hope that the pop-up would give people an opportunity to drink Arisu directly and develop a more positive perception of tap water.

For visitors arriving at the Han River this autumn, the experience will offer something different: a chance to enjoy Seoul’s nighttime scenery while discovering the city’s tap water in a completely new setting.

And with the second Arisu pop-up about to open, the question now is whether Seoul can turn another ordinary Han River evening into its next big tap-water moment.
