Residents of Barangay San Isidro in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur are welcoming the completion of a nearly ₱3.5-million road project that is expected to improve mobility and accessibility in the community.
The Davao del Sur Provincial Government formally turned over the newly concreted barangay road on September 15, 2026, marking another infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in San Isidro and nearby communities.
Barangay San Isidro Captain Julito Gasing thanked the provincial government for the project, saying the improved road would spare residents from the difficulties they previously experienced when traveling through the area.
Gasing said he had personally witnessed the condition of San Isidro before the improvement and expressed hope that the new road would benefit younger generations and make transportation easier for residents.
Residents also welcomed the development. Grace Temblor-Genobiagon of Purok 4 said the previously difficult road had finally been concreted, describing the improvement as a major relief for the community. She also expressed hope that the newly paved section could eventually be extended to cover more areas.
Kiblawan Municipal Councilor Benjie Caminero likewise welcomed the project, noting that both San Isidro and neighboring Barangay Kibongbong would benefit from improved infrastructure.
The provincial government also reported that another infrastructure project is in the pipeline for Kiblawan. A ₱3-million concreting project at the town’s terminal already has a notice to proceed and is expected to improve conditions in the area, particularly during the rainy season.
Davao del Sur Gov. Yvonne Roña Cagas led the road project’s turnover together with Board Members Carmelo delos Cientos III and Mark Joel Gallardo.
Cagas said visits to barangays for project turnovers also allow the provincial government to see firsthand the needs of communities and identify areas requiring further assistance.
For San Isidro residents, the completed road addresses a long-standing transportation problem while creating a more accessible route for residents, workers and future generations.
With additional infrastructure projects being pursued in Kiblawan, residents are now looking toward further improvements that could extend the benefits beyond the newly concreted section.
