MANILA, Philippines — Actress Matet de Leon has apologized to motorists who were temporarily affected by traffic along EDSA after her family’s vehicle was allegedly sideswiped by a bus, saying she and her companions ultimately chose not to prolong the incident to avoid causing further delays.

In a social media post shared on Thursday, August 27, Matet recounted that their vehicle was allegedly hit while they were stopped at an intersection behind a jeepney. The incident reportedly caused a brief disruption along the busy highway.

But instead of allowing the situation to escalate further, Matet said they decided to let the matter go, mindful of commuters and motorists trying to get home after work.

Still, the actress did not hide how shaken and upset she was—especially because her child was inside the vehicle when the incident happened.

Matet admitted that she lost her temper with the bus driver, saying her anger was fueled by fear over what could have happened to her family. At the same time, she emphasized that allowing passengers and other motorists to continue their journey without further delay became the more important priority.

She also appealed to the driver to be more careful on the road, warning that a similar incident in the future could have far more serious consequences.

The episode highlights the tense reality faced daily by motorists on Metro Manila’s busiest roads, where even a minor collision can quickly affect traffic and disrupt thousands of commuters. EDSA has also remained under close public attention in recent weeks because of traffic disruptions and other road-related incidents. Earlier this year, authorities took action against a bus involved in a separate crash along the EDSA Busway, underscoring continuing concerns about road safety and driver accountability.
