MANILA, Philippines — Falcons Vega’s bid to return to the global VALORANT Game Changers stage has ended after a dramatic 2–3 defeat to Gen.G GC in the Pacific lower-bracket final on September 19.
The loss secured third place for Falcons Vega in the VCT 2026 Game Changers Pacific playoffs and eliminated the Saudi Arabian organization from contention for the 2026 Game Changers Championship in São Paulo, Brazil.
More significantly for Philippine esports, the result means no Filipina player will be represented at this year’s Game Changers Championship, ending a streak that dates back to the competition’s launch in 2022, according to the Inquirer report.
Falcons Vega pushed Gen.G to the limit
The elimination was anything but straightforward.
Gen.G opened the best-of-five series by taking Lotus, 13–8, but Falcons Vega immediately responded on Split, dominating 13–4. The Filipina-led squad then moved ahead by winning Sunset 13–10, putting itself one map away from securing the Pacific region’s remaining Championship berth.
Gen.G, however, refused to fold.
The Korean squad answered with a 13–9 victory on Haven before closing out the deciding Ascent map 13–5 to complete the 3–2 comeback.
Gen.G’s Jo “DaNa” Se-won was among the standout performers, with the Inquirer report crediting her with 95 kills and a 242 ACS across the series.
Another Pacific run ends just short
Falcons Vega had entered the Pacific playoffs as one of the region’s strongest teams after winning Game Changers SEA Split 1 and Split 2 in 2026. Its Split 2 championship came after a 3–2 victory over Sisu in July.
The team carried that momentum into the Pacific playoffs.
Falcons Vega swept swaglord9000 2–0 in the upper quarterfinals and then defeated FULL SENSE SISU 2–0 in the upper semifinal.
But the team encountered FENNEL GC in the upper-bracket final.
FENNEL defeated Falcons Vega 2–0, winning Lotus 13–10 and Sunset 13–8, sending Falcons Vega into the elimination bracket.
That left Falcons Vega with one final opportunity to qualify for the global championship.
Gen.G ultimately ended that run.
A roster carrying major Philippine esports history
Falcons Vega’s lineup included three Filipina players: Alexandria “Alexy” Francisco, Camille “Kamiyu” Enriquez and Kelly “shirazi” Jaudian, alongside Indonesia’s Odella “enerii” Abraham and Saudi Arabia’s Modhi “madv” Alkanhal.
The roster also represented a reunion of a highly successful Pacific Game Changers core.
Regional esports coverage noted that Alexy, Kamiyu, enerii and shirazi had previously competed together under Team SMG and Xipto Esports, with the core producing back-to-back fourth-place finishes at the Game Changers Championship in 2023 and 2024.
Shirazi returned to Falcons Vega in 2026 on loan from China’s Nova Esports GC, reuniting with several of her former teammates. Nova had won both Game Changers China stages in 2025 and qualified for the 2025 Championship in Seoul.
Philippines shut out of the 2026 Championship
Falcons Vega’s elimination also closed the door on the remaining Philippine representatives in Pacific.
Earlier in the bracket, Rising Esports GC was eliminated by wiwiwi, while FULL SENSE SISU—another team featuring Filipina talent—was eventually eliminated by Gen.G.
With Falcons Vega now out, the Philippines will have no representative at the 2026 Game Changers Championship.
That is a notable change from recent years, when Filipino players and Pacific-based rosters featuring Philippine talent repeatedly reached the international stage.
FENNEL vs. Gen.G for the Pacific title
With Falcons Vega eliminated, FENNEL GC and Gen.G GC remain in the Pacific tournament.
FENNEL secured its Championship berth by reaching the grand final after defeating Falcons Vega in the upper-bracket final. Gen.G earned the second Pacific qualification spot by eliminating Falcons Vega in the lower final.
The two teams are scheduled to meet in the Pacific grand final on September 20.
The VALORANT Game Changers Championship 2026 will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, in October, with Riot Games confirming that 10 qualified teams will compete on LAN for the global title.
For Falcons Vega, the road ends at third place.
For Philippine VALORANT fans, the bigger question now becomes what comes next for a generation of Filipina players that has spent several seasons fighting for a place on the world’s biggest Game Changers stage.
