Buboy Villar and Angillyn Gorens Went From Public Conflict to Forgiveness—But What Finally Made Them Speak Again Came Out of Nowhere

MANILA, Philippines — After years of separation, complicated co-parenting and a highly publicized dispute, actor-comedian Buboy Villar says he and former partner Angillyn Gorens have finally reached a place of forgiveness — but their reconciliation is about healing and their children, not rekindling their romance.

Villar opened up about the development during an appearance on GMA’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” recounting how communication between him and Gorens eventually resumed after a difficult period in their relationship.

According to Villar, he had reached a point where he decided to stop dwelling on their conflict and instead pray for the situation to improve.

An unexpected interaction involving their daughter Vlanz eventually became the opening for the former couple to speak directly again.

Villar said Gorens unexpectedly took the phone while he was speaking with their daughter, allowing the two former partners to finally have a conversation.

What followed, according to Villar, was something that had appeared unlikely only months earlier: both apologized.

Villar said Gorens apologized to him, while he also acknowledged his own shortcomings during their past relationship.

The conversation, he said, allowed them to move beyond some of the resentment surrounding their breakup.

More importantly, Villar believes the change has helped them become better co-parents.

“Mas naging maganda ang co-parenting namin ng dalawa,” Villar said during the interview.

A Relationship That Had Been Complicated for Years

Villar and Gorens share two children, Vlanz Karollyn and George Michael.

Their separation was publicly confirmed in 2020, although PEP previously reported that the couple had already decided to part ways around 2018 and later attempted to repair their relationship before finally ending it. Gorens described their separation at the time as a mutual decision to focus on becoming parents to their children rather than remaining a couple.

Villar later acknowledged that their youth and lack of maturity contributed to the breakup.

During a 2023 television appearance, he also admitted that his demanding work schedule prevented him from giving Gorens the time he felt a partner deserved.

Their parenting arrangement eventually became long-distance, with Gorens spending considerable time in the United States while Villar remained in the Philippines.

Despite the distance, Villar previously said they regularly communicated about decisions involving their children.

Their Relationship Appeared Peaceful in 2024

There had already been signs that the former couple was capable of maintaining a civil relationship.

In May 2024, Villar told GMA News Online that he and Gorens had agreed to avoid hostility toward each other because they remained connected through their children.

The two had even been seen spending time together with their children.

Villar emphasized then that the meetings should not be interpreted as a romantic reunion.

Their focus, he said, was simply family bonding and maintaining a healthy environment for their children.

Then Their Conflict Exploded Publicly in 2025

That relatively peaceful picture changed dramatically in 2025.

Gorens publicly made serious allegations regarding their previous relationship, including accusations involving physical and verbal abuse and infidelity.

Villar denied physically hurting her and addressed questions surrounding financial support for their children during another interview with Boy Abunda.

GMA News reported that Villar said financial arrangements involving their children had already gone through what he described as the appropriate process.

He also said disputes between former partners should be discussed through the proper venue instead of becoming public attacks.

At the time, Villar admitted that he was hurt by the controversy but said he hoped he could eventually forgive.

The allegations remain claims from Gorens that Villar disputed publicly, an important distinction because competing accounts surrounding their past relationship have circulated online.

By June 2026, Buboy Was Already Saying Things Were Better

Signs of reconciliation emerged again earlier this year.

In a June 24, 2026 interview with PEP, Villar was asked whether problems remained between him and Gorens.

His answer was straightforward: they were already okay.

Villar also said he continued working to provide for his children and remained focused on securing their education and future.

That interview provides additional context to his latest comments: the reconciliation described on “Fast Talk” appears to be part of a gradual improvement in their relationship rather than an overnight development.

Reconciliation Does Not Mean They Are Back Together

The distinction matters.

Neither Villar’s latest statements nor the reports reviewed indicate that he and Gorens have resumed a romantic relationship.

Villar currently has a partner, Khrizza Mae “Isay” Sampiano, with whom he also has a young son, Kyrie.

What Villar describes instead is something very different: two former partners finding a way to communicate again after years of complicated history.

For parents who share children after a breakup, that difference can be significant.

Forgiveness does not erase what happened.

It does not automatically resolve disagreements about the past.

And it does not necessarily mean reconciliation as a couple.

But in Villar’s telling, it has allowed two parents who were once publicly at odds to communicate again — and that may ultimately matter most to the children connecting them.

For a celebrity relationship that has repeatedly moved between friendship, disagreement and public controversy, the newest chapter is therefore less about a romantic comeback than something potentially more difficult:

learning how to move forward without reopening the relationship they already left behind.
