NHA TRANG, Vietnam — A new chapter in Nha Trang’s luxury-travel scene has arrived, with Meliá Aurea Nha Trang opening beside the already established Villa Le Corail, a Gran Meliá Hotel, creating a striking oceanfront pairing on Vietnam’s central coast.
The development is part of Meliá Hotels International’s continued expansion in Vietnam, as international hotel groups increasingly target travellers looking for a more elevated coastal experience beyond the traditional city beachfront. Bangkok Post recently spotlighted the two properties in its report, “Oceanside luxury in Nha Trang.”
A new luxury address by the sea
Meliá Aurea Nha Trang officially opened on Aug. 12, 2026, as an upper-upscale oceanfront resort with 207 rooms and suites.
The property sits between Turtle Island and Fairy Mountain, next to Villa Le Corail. It is approximately 15 minutes from central Nha Trang and around 48km from Cam Ranh International Airport, according to multiple hospitality reports.
Every room and suite comes with a private balcony, while most accommodations offer ocean views. The design emphasizes natural light, open-plan interiors and the surrounding coastal landscape.
For guests wanting a more exclusive experience, Meliá’s The Level service provides access to a private lounge, dedicated check-in, concierge assistance, afternoon tea, refreshments throughout the day and upgraded in-room amenities.
More than just another beach resort
What makes the location particularly appealing is its combination of relative seclusion and access to Nha Trang’s attractions.
Guests can explore the Hon Mun Marine Protected Area, known for its marine environment and snorkeling opportunities, while the historic Po Nagar Tower offers a glimpse into the region’s Champa heritage.
Nearby Hòn Chồng and Hang Heo beaches add further options for travellers looking for a quieter coastal experience.
Dining with a Vietnamese-Mediterranean twist
Food is also central to the new resort’s identity.
The property has three dining venues, including Ciao Chào, an all-day restaurant that combines Italian culinary techniques with Vietnamese flavours and ingredients.
The concept incorporates wood-fired pizza, handmade pasta, live cooking and locally sourced seafood, while an outdoor terrace and herb garden reinforce the property’s connection to the destination.
Boreal, meanwhile, functions as a lobby gathering space serving coffee and cocktails, while O’LULA Pool Club provides a more relaxed poolside setting.
Wellness and family travel get equal attention
The resort also includes YHI Spa, a fitness centre and the Kidsdom Club, which features a children’s pool and outdoor spaces designed for younger guests.
The spa’s wellness concept draws inspiration from nature and local Champa traditions, giving the resort’s wellness offering a distinctly Vietnamese element rather than relying solely on a generic luxury-spa formula.
And next door is the ultra-luxury Villa Le Corail
The new property isn’t operating in isolation.
Right beside it is Villa Le Corail, a Gran Meliá Hotel, the group’s more exclusive all-villa retreat. The property opened in July 2023 and features private-pool villas, beachfront access, wellness facilities and high-end dining. VnExpress previously highlighted its 94 private pool villas and Spanish restaurant Hispania.
Current accommodation listings describe Villa Le Corail as a beachfront property with private beach access, outdoor pools, spa facilities, a fitness centre and multiple dining options.
That creates an interesting two-tier proposition for travellers: Meliá Aurea offers an upper-upscale resort experience, while Villa Le Corail caters to guests seeking a more private, villa-focused luxury stay.
Meliá is betting bigger on Vietnam
The Nha Trang opening also reflects a wider strategy.
Hospitality industry reports say Meliá Hotels International currently operates 22 hotels in Vietnam, with another five properties planned over the next two to three years.
The expansion comes as Vietnam continues to strengthen its position as a major Southeast Asian leisure destination, with Nha Trang particularly well placed to attract beach, wellness, family and luxury travellers.
For visitors, the bigger question is no longer whether Nha Trang has beautiful beaches — it does.
The question is how luxurious a stay travellers want while remaining close to the city.
With Meliá Aurea now open beside Villa Le Corail, travellers have another answer.
