Famous Japanese Doughnut Chain I’m Donut? Set to Open First Singapore Outlet

Japanese bakery chain I’m Donut? is heading to Singapore, bringing its popular soft and airy nama doughnuts to the city-state for the first time.

The brand teased its Singapore debut on Sept. 28 with a photo of a construction hoarding carrying its distinctive question-mark logo. The accompanying message simply read, “Singapore? 2026 — Coming soon,” without revealing the store’s location or opening date.

Founded by Japanese chef Ryouta Hirako, I’m Donut? became known for its nama doughnuts, which are made to have an exceptionally light, soft and moist texture. The menu includes flavours such as original, custard and matcha, alongside seasonal and location-exclusive creations.

The bakery’s international expansion has already taken it beyond Japan, with outlets in New York, Taipei and Seoul. It also recently opened its first Southeast Asian location at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur on Sept. 12, while an Indonesia outlet is planned for October.

I’m Donut? has developed a reputation for attracting long queues, with social media users in some markets reporting waits of up to an hour and products selling out before the end of the day. The brand’s arrival in Singapore has already sparked online excitement, with some Singaporeans anticipating heavy demand when the store opens.

The Kuala Lumpur branch has followed the brand’s practice of creating flavours tailored to local markets, offering Malaysia-exclusive options including Milo, Cham, pandan and coconut. Other overseas locations have also introduced flavours designed specifically for their respective markets.

For now, the Singapore outlet’s exact location, menu and official opening date remain unconfirmed. But with the teaser already released, the Japanese doughnut chain’s Singapore debut is expected to become one of the city’s closely watched new food openings of 2026.
