A 37-year-old man was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing another man near the Interim Building of the Carbon Public Market in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, on Saturday night, September 19, 2026.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Ronron,” a resident of Sitio Pig Vendor in the same barangay, voluntarily surrendered to police with the assistance of Ermita Barangay Captain Mark Rizaldy Miral at around 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 20.
Police said the firearm allegedly used in the shooting has not been recovered. The suspect reportedly told authorities that he had thrown the weapon into the sea.
The victim, identified by the alias “Naldo,” 41, and also a resident of the area, was reportedly walking along the road when he was shot. He later died from his injuries.
The victim’s wife reportedly suspected that illegal drugs may have been connected to the shooting, although police have not established this as the motive.
The suspect is now being held at the Carbon Police Station and is expected to face a murder complaint.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, including efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and determine the motive behind the killing.
