Discussions on creating a Mindanao Tourism Circuit Framework have begun, with an ad hoc committee holding its first organizational meeting on September 15, 2026.
The committee is led by Regional Development Council 11 Chairperson and Davao de Oro Gov. Edwin “Kuya Gob” Jubahib. The initiative is intended to develop connected tourism routes across Mindanao and link destinations that can complement one another.
The proposed tourism circuit also aims to encourage coordinated investments and support more inclusive tourism development across the island.
Jubahib said the initiative could give tourists a more seamless experience when travelling between Mindanao destinations. He also encouraged committee members to examine the island’s tourism potential and explore ways to position Mindanao as a strategic tourism gateway in the Asia-Pacific region.
The committee will work on the Mindanao Tourism Circuit Framework and Implementation Strategy, known as MTC-FIS. Once developed, the framework will be presented by Jubahib to other development councils during the next meeting of the Regional Development Committee-Mindanao Area Committee.
The initiative follows the policy direction established during the 42nd RDCom-MAC Conference on March 27, 2026.
The tourism framework is expected to provide a coordinated approach to developing routes and destinations across Mindanao, while supporting investment and broader participation in the island’s tourism industry.
