The proposed system is intended to bring water-related information from different government agencies together on a single platform. This would allow authorities to access more consistent and up-to-date information when monitoring developing situations.
Thailand has several agencies responsible for water management, disaster prevention and emergency response. Sharing information through a common mapping system could help reduce gaps between agencies and provide a clearer picture of conditions in affected areas.
The map is expected to incorporate information relevant to flood monitoring, including water levels, rainfall, waterways and other factors that can influence the movement and accumulation of water.
A centralised database could also help authorities identify vulnerable areas more quickly and support decisions on evacuations, water management and the deployment of emergency resources.
