The fight ended in a first-round no-contest after Aspinall suffered multiple accidental eye pokes and was unable to continue. What initially appeared to be an unfortunate in-fight incident developed into a far more serious medical problem.
Subsequent reports showed that Aspinall suffered significant damage to his vision and eye movement and was diagnosed with Brown’s syndrome in both eyes, a rare condition affecting normal eye movement. He underwent multiple surgeries and spent months trying to recover before returning to full MMA training.
But just when it appeared that Aspinall’s comeback was gaining momentum, another accident reportedly caused further damage to his right eye.
