The footage, shared online by SG Road Vigilante, was captured at around 3am on Sept 4. It shows a vehicle turning right from Paya Lebar Road into Ubi Avenue 3 before two Traffic Police motorcycle officers appear to cut in front of the vehicle and turn towards the Traffic Police headquarters.
A third Traffic Police outrider is then seen approaching from the left, changing lanes and overtaking the vehicle before making a sharp right turn into its path. The manoeuvre prompted the driver to brake suddenly, while someone inside the vehicle could be heard reacting in surprise.
The incident was reportedly recorded along Ubi Avenue 3, with the officers appearing to be heading towards the Traffic Police headquarters at 10 Ubi Avenue 3.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed that it was aware of the incident and said the officers’ actions were being investigated.
“Their actions are being investigated, and appropriate action will be taken against them,” police said.
Police also stressed that the force takes road safety seriously and expects all officers to follow traffic rules and exercise due care and attention while on the road.
Under Singapore’s Road Traffic Act, motorists can be penalised for driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users. Whether the officers breached any rules will be determined through the investigation.
The footage has attracted attention in Singapore because Traffic Police officers are responsible for enforcing road-safety regulations, placing their own conduct on public roads under particular scrutiny. No findings of wrongdoing have been announced against the three officers at this stage.
