AARAU, Switzerland — What began as a night of electronic music and celebration ended in chaos after gunfire erupted near a rave in northern Switzerland early Sunday, leaving one person dead and five others injured, some seriously, authorities said.
The shooting occurred in Aarau, in the canton of Aargau, during or around the conclusion of the “Aarau Rave VOL. 7” event, which was being held at a horse racing venue in the city’s Schachen district.
Swiss police were alerted to the incident at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, according to reports from Swiss public broadcaster SRF and international news agencies. Authorities immediately launched a large-scale operation, cordoning off the area and urging the public to stay away.
Police Hunt Underway as Motive Remains a Mystery
