KATSEYE has pulled out of Olivia Rodrigo’s highly anticipated Daisy Chain Fields festival after member Megan Skiendiel suffered a sprained ankle during tour rehearsals, forcing organizers to make a last-minute change to the lineup.
The global girl group was scheduled to perform Saturday, Aug. 29, at Great Park in Irvine, California, as part of Rodrigo’s inaugural all-women music festival. But after Skiendiel was evaluated by doctors, she was advised to stay off the injured ankle and allow it to heal ahead of KATSEYE’s upcoming WILD WORLD Tour.
KATSEYE announced the cancellation on Thursday, expressing regret to fans who had been looking forward to seeing the group at the festival.
The group said it was particularly disappointed because Daisy Chain Fields represented more than just another performance. KATSEYE praised the festival’s focus on music, community and its broader mission supporting women and girls.
DEVON AGAIN STEPS IN AS FESTIVAL MAKES LAST-MINUTE CHANGE
With KATSEYE unable to perform, American singer-songwriter Devon Again was announced as the replacement for the group’s earlier time slot.
According to CNA, Devon Again was scheduled to perform from 1:05 p.m. to 1:35 p.m. Pacific time, while Santigold’s performance was subsequently moved to the 2:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. slot that had originally been assigned to KATSEYE.
The updated lineup means fans will still see a packed day of performances despite KATSEYE’s withdrawal.
The festival features major names including Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Bikini Kill, Garbage and The Breeders, with special appearances from Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan and Karen O.
MEGAN’S INJURY COMES AT A CRITICAL TIME FOR KATSEYE
The setback arrives as KATSEYE prepares for its international WILD WORLD Tour, which is scheduled to begin Sept. 1 in Dublin.
That makes Megan’s recovery particularly important for the group, which has already experienced several changes to its active lineup this year.
KATSEYE originally debuted as a six-member group. However, Manon Bannerman has been away from group activities while focusing on her health and wellbeing, while Sophia Laforteza recently announced her own temporary hiatus to prioritize her mental health.
Megan has also previously experienced an injury-related break. CNA reported that she stepped back in 2024 after suffering a back injury.
Despite the latest setback, there has been no announcement that KATSEYE’s upcoming tour has been canceled.
A FESTIVAL WITH A BIGGER MISSION
Daisy Chain Fields is more than a traditional music festival for Rodrigo.
The inaugural event was created around an all-women lineup and a broader emphasis on women’s rights, community and support for women and girls. The Los Angeles Times reported that proceeds from the one-day event are intended to benefit charities supporting women and girls.
The festival is also notable for the sheer range of artists Rodrigo assembled, bringing together younger pop stars and influential musicians from several generations.
Rodrigo has previously used her platform to support women’s rights. During her 2024 Guts Tour, she launched Fund 4 Good and directed millions of dollars in profits and donations toward organizations working on women’s rights.
FANS NOW HAVE ONE BIG QUESTION: WILL MEGAN BE READY FOR THE TOUR?
For now, the focus is on Skiendiel’s recovery.
KATSEYE has made clear that the decision to withdraw was made after medical evaluation and was intended to give Megan time to heal before the group begins its next major touring commitment. PEOPLE also reported that Skiendiel described herself as heartbroken to miss the festival, particularly because of what the event represents.
The group is still scheduled to begin its WILD WORLD Tour on Sept. 1, making the next few days crucial for fans waiting to learn whether Megan will be able to return in time.
For now, one thing is certain: KATSEYE will not be taking the stage at Olivia Rodrigo’s first Daisy Chain Fields festival — and a last-minute injury has suddenly put even more attention on the group’s upcoming tour.
The festival goes ahead. KATSEYE steps back. But the bigger question now is whether Megan’s ankle will be fully recovered before the group’s international tour begins.
