BTS member Jimin has pushed “Like Crazy” past 1 billion filtered streams on Spotify, setting a new benchmark for a Korean-language song more than three years after the track first exploded onto the global charts.
Big Hit Music announced the milestone on September 17, saying “Like Crazy” had reached 1 billion chart-eligible filtered streams on Spotify and was the first Korean-language track to do so. Korean media reported that the threshold had been crossed as of September 14.
At first glance, that may sound like Jimin has only now joined Spotify’s billion-stream club.
He hasn’t.
Spotify itself announced back on April 5, 2024 that “Like Crazy” had already surpassed 1 billion total streams, just 377 days after its release — making it, at the time, the fastest Korean-language song to reach the milestone and the first Korean-language song by a soloist to do so.
So what exactly happened in 2026?
The answer lies in the difference between Spotify’s total stream count and the smaller number of streams the platform considers eligible for its charts.
And that makes this milestone more interesting than the headline number alone.
What Does ‘1 Billion Filtered Streams’ Actually Mean?
Spotify does not use every recorded play when calculating its charts.
The company says it uses a proprietary formula designed to protect chart integrity, meaning not every stream is considered chart-eligible. Depending on listening behavior, the number displayed in Spotify’s charts can therefore be lower than the total shown in the app or Spotify for Artists.
Spotify also says its chart filtering does not affect royalties paid to creators.
A regular Spotify stream, meanwhile, is generally counted once a listener plays a song for at least 30 seconds.
That is why two apparently conflicting milestones can both be true.
“Like Crazy” crossed 1 billion overall Spotify streams in April 2024.
Now it has crossed 1 billion filtered, chart-eligible streams as well.
The distinction is crucial for accurate reporting because calling this Jimin’s first billion-stream Spotify achievement would be misleading.
It is instead a new milestone measuring a different subset of the song’s enormous streaming activity.
‘Like Crazy’ Was Already at More Than 1.46 Billion Total Streams This Summer
The gap becomes even clearer when looking at more recent reported totals.
StarNews reported in July 2026 that the Korean version of “Like Crazy” had accumulated approximately 1.464 billion Spotify streams, while its separate English-language version had also passed 400 million streams.
Those figures reflect the platform’s broader stream counts rather than the more restrictive filtered-chart measure.
The English version reaching 400 million also highlighted another unusual part of the song’s longevity: both the Korean and English versions have continued attracting substantial audiences more than three years after release.
For a song that debuted in March 2023, that level of continued consumption suggests “Like Crazy” has moved well beyond a normal promotional cycle.
The Song That Made Jimin a Billboard No. 1 Soloist
Released in March 2023 as the title track from Jimin’s first solo album “FACE,” “Like Crazy” was built around an atmospheric synth-pop sound inspired by 1980s pop and themes of escape, loneliness and losing oneself in nightlife.
Commercially, it immediately became historic.
“Like Crazy” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Jimin his first solo leader on the chart. Billboard subsequently highlighted the single as one of the defining achievements of his 2023 solo era.
The track spent five weeks on the Hot 100, while “FACE” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and remained on the album chart for seven weeks, according to The Korea Herald.
On Billboard’s global rankings, “Like Crazy” climbed as high as No. 2 on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. Billboard’s later chart reporting continues to list the song among Jimin’s major solo global-chart successes.
The UK Gave Jimin Another Major Breakthrough
The United Kingdom provided another sign that “Like Crazy” was not simply a U.S.-driven success.
Official Charts data shows the song debuted at No. 8 on the UK Official Singles Chart and remained in the Top 100 for five weeks.
It also reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart during its opening week.
At the time, the No. 8 debut established one of the strongest UK performances by a Korean solo artist.
Jimin would later surpass his own UK peak with “Who,” which debuted at No. 4 in 2024. Official Charts described that as his new solo career-best.
That progression matters because it shows “Like Crazy” was not an isolated chart anomaly.
It became the starting point for an even larger solo streaming run.
Then ‘Who’ Became Even Bigger on Spotify
Jimin’s 2024 single “Who,” from his second solo album “MUSE,” has since overtaken “Like Crazy” on several streaming measures.
StarNews reported this week that “Who” has surpassed 2.5 billion filtered Spotify streams. The outlet said this makes Jimin the first Korean artist reported to have multiple tracks above 1 billion filtered streams on the platform.
That figure is especially striking because “Who” arrived more than a year after “Like Crazy.”
Billboard’s global chart data also showed “Who” reaching No. 1 on the Global 200 shortly after release in 2024.
In the UK, it reached No. 4 and stayed on the Official Singles Chart for 28 weeks, far longer than the five-week run of “Like Crazy.”
Taken together, the numbers suggest Jimin’s solo catalog did not peak with his first album.
It expanded.
Why ‘Like Crazy’ Still Matters More Than Three Years Later
Streaming records often favor new releases because songs receive their biggest playlist placements, media attention and fan activity during their opening weeks.
“Like Crazy” is doing something different.
Its original release campaign ended years ago.
Jimin released a second solo album.
BTS moved through its military-service period and subsequent group activities.
New K-pop hits arrived every month.
Yet “Like Crazy” continued accumulating enough chart-eligible listening to add another historic billion-stream milestone in September 2026.
That longevity may ultimately be more significant than how quickly it initially went viral.
A fast billion demonstrates explosive demand.
A song still collecting enormous volumes of legitimate, chart-eligible listening three and a half years later demonstrates something else: catalog staying power.
And for streaming-era artists, catalog strength can matter enormously because older songs continue generating listening, royalties and discovery long after their promotional budgets disappear.
One Record, Two Different Billion-Stream Milestones
The cleanest way to understand Jimin’s latest achievement is therefore this:
“Like Crazy” passed 1 billion total Spotify streams in April 2024, with Spotify officially welcoming it to the platform’s Billions Club after only 377 days.
By September 2026, it had now accumulated 1 billion streams under Spotify’s filtered chart methodology, according to Big Hit Music and Korean media reports.
Those are not duplicate records.
They measure different things.
And together they help show just how large the song has become.
Three and a half years after release, Jimin’s biggest 2023 solo hit is no longer merely being remembered.
It is still being streamed on a scale large enough to break records.
And with “Who” already reportedly above 2.5 billion filtered streams, the bigger story may be that “Like Crazy” is no longer Jimin’s only billion-stream phenomenon.
