For years, the names Jaycee Parker and Andrea del Rosario were closely associated with the Viva Hot Babes, one of the most recognizable all-female entertainment groups of the early 2000s.
But when both women ventured into public service, they found themselves facing a difficult question: Could they move beyond the “sexy star” image that helped define their showbiz careers?
Their answer, years later, appears to be clear.
They no longer want to run from it.
During a media conference for the upcoming “Bulaklak: Viva Hot Babes Reunion Concert,” Jaycee opened up about why she once tried to distance herself from the group’s image—and why she has since learned to embrace it.
Jaycee, who is now an incumbent councilor in Angeles City, Pampanga, said she deliberately tried to move away from the sexy image when she entered public service because she felt it could affect how constituents viewed her.
“Nag-try ako na makalayo sa sexy image kasi getting into public service, medyo kailangan mong makawala sa image na ’yon para hindi ka rin ma-bash ng constituents mo,” Jaycee explained.
But the effort did not erase her association with the Viva Hot Babes.
According to Jaycee, people continued to remember her as a former member of the group regardless of how much she tried to distance herself from that chapter of her career.
Eventually, she realized that fighting the association was no longer necessary.
Instead, she decided to own it.
“Instead of staying away from it, ina-accept ko na lang siya. Ine-embrace ko na lang siya,” she said.
The revelation comes six years after Jaycee previously asked PEP to remove the words “Viva Hot Babe” from the headline of an interview about her. At the time, she did not publicly explain why she wanted the reference removed. She has now provided the context behind that decision.
Andrea del Rosario Had a Similar Experience
Jaycee’s story resonated with fellow Viva Hot Babes member Andrea del Rosario, who went through a similar transition when she entered politics.
Andrea served as vice mayor of Calatagan, Batangas, from June 2016 until June 30, 2019. During her time in public office, she also made a conscious effort to separate her political identity from her earlier sexy-star image.
“I tried my very best to remove the stigma of just being a sexy symbol,” Andrea recalled.
She said she even turned down several showbiz projects and movies because she wanted to give the position—and her constituents—the respect she believed it deserved.
But Andrea eventually reached a different realization about her past.
Speaking about the last movie she made, she admitted that she had initially been uncomfortable with how sensual she appeared on screen.
She later came to see that aspect of herself differently.
Andrea said she realized that being sensual was not inherently something negative and that it was something she could embrace rather than be ashamed of.
From Avoiding the Past to Celebrating It
The change in perspective comes at a fitting time.
Jaycee and Andrea are now preparing to reunite with several of their former groupmates for “Bulaklak: Viva Hot Babes Reunion Concert,” scheduled for October 23, 2026, at 8 p.m. at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao, Quezon City.
The announced performers include Maui Taylor, Katya Santos, Andrea del Rosario, Gwen Garci, Sheree, Jaycee Parker, Ella V., and Jennifer Lee.
The reunion was officially announced after months of speculation and is being directed by GB Sampedro.
The group became a major pop-culture name after debuting in 2003, with songs such as “Bulaklak,” “Kikay,” and “Basketbol” becoming closely associated with their era.
Interestingly, the reunion is not being positioned simply as a trip down memory lane.
Maui Taylor and other members have emphasized the friendship and shared history that have endured for more than two decades. The women have also pushed back against the idea that their comeback needs to become a competition with other iconic female groups such as the SexBomb Girls.
Instead, the reunion is being framed as a celebration of their individual journeys—and the legacy they built together.
A Different Chapter for the Viva Hot Babes
The significance of Jaycee and Andrea’s revelations goes beyond their old sexy-star image.
Both women attempted to redefine themselves after leaving the group’s most prominent years behind. Both entered public service and both experienced the tension between their past entertainment identities and their responsibilities in public life.
Now, with the Viva Hot Babes preparing to share a stage again, they appear more comfortable acknowledging where they came from.
What they once considered a stigma has become part of their story.
And perhaps that is what makes this reunion more intriguing than a simple nostalgia concert.
After more than 20 years, Jaycee Parker and Andrea del Rosario are not trying to erase the Viva Hot Babes chapter anymore. They are finally ready to own it.
Tickets for the reunion are scheduled to go on sale August 29 through Ticketnet, with reported prices ranging from ₱1,500 to ₱6,800, depending on the section.
