Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945 Limited to Five Pieces

Jaeger-LeCoultre has introduced a new interpretation of its Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945, combining celestial imagery, intricate enamel work and advanced watchmaking in an 18-karat white gold timepiece limited to just five pieces.

First introduced in 2010, the Calibre 945 brings together three distinctive complications: a Northern Hemisphere star chart, a minute repeater and the brand’s flying Cosmotourbillon. The latest version presents these elements within a 45mm white gold case.

At the centre of the watch is a multi-level domed dial finished using grisaille enamel, a decorative technique that Jaeger-LeCoultre added to its repertoire in 2022. Multiple layers of enamel are individually fired to create the dial’s deep blue appearance, while the constellations and their names are painted by hand using white Blanc de Limoges enamel.

The celestial display is complemented by the Cosmotourbillon, which consists of 73 components housed in a lightweight titanium carriage. Operating at 4Hz, the flying 60-second tourbillon completes a full circuit of the dial in one sidereal day, following Earth’s rotation relative to the stars.

The mechanism is designed to track the positions of the constellations as viewed from the Vallée de Joux in Switzerland, the home of Jaeger-LeCoultre since 1883.

Another major feature is the minute repeater, which produces its sound through crystal gongs positioned around the movement and Trébuchet hammers. A silent governor controls the mechanism, helping maintain the smooth operation of the chiming function.

The 18-karat white gold case combines microblasted and satin-polished surfaces, while a blue alligator strap has been matched to the colour of the dial. A double-wheel adjustment system allows the strap to be precisely fitted for greater comfort.

With its combination of hand-finished enamel, astronomical indications and complex mechanical complications, the latest Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945 brings together Jaeger-LeCoultre’s technical and artistic expertise in a highly limited creation.

Limited to five pieces, the timepiece continues the brand’s exploration of the relationship between traditional watchmaking and the celestial world.
