SINGAPORE — Music and lifestyle are coming together as K-pop star G-Dragon and Mandopop icon Jay Chou launch separate collaborations with McDonald’s and Starbucks, giving fans in Singapore new food, drink and collectible experiences.
G-Dragon’s fashion label Peaceminusone is teasing a collaboration with McDonald’s, while Jay Chou has partnered with Starbucks on a collection of drinks and merchandise.
The announcements come ahead of BigBang’s Singapore concert in October and Jay Chou’s Carnival II World Tour, scheduled to reach Singapore in January 2027.
G-Dragon’s Peaceminusone joins forces with McDonald’s
McDonald’s Singapore released a teaser on Sept 9 featuring the signature white daisy associated with G-Dragon’s fashion label, Peaceminusone.
In the teaser, a daisy petal drifts towards McDonald’s iconic Golden Arches before the message “Coming soon” appears.
The collaboration is part of a larger campaign expected to roll out across 13 Asian markets, beginning in South Korea on Sept 17 before expanding to other participating countries.
Gochujang butter takes centre stage
The McDonald’s campaign will feature menu items inspired by gochujang butter sauce developed in South Korea.
In South Korea, two burgers are set to launch as part of the campaign:
- McCrispy Gochujang Butter
- McSpicy Gochujang Butter
The sauce will also be available separately as a dipping option in the Korean market.
Details of the menu and launch plans may vary between participating Asian countries.
Limited-edition Peaceminusone merchandise planned
The collaboration will also extend beyond food.
McDonald’s Korea has confirmed plans to release limited-edition merchandise created with Peaceminusone later this month.
Further details about the products have yet to be announced, but the collection is expected to combine visual elements associated with both McDonald’s and G-Dragon’s fashion label.
Jay Chou brings his world to Starbucks
Meanwhile, Taiwanese singer-songwriter Jay Chou has partnered with Starbucks for a lifestyle collaboration that combines coffee, music and collectible merchandise.
Starbucks released promotional material featuring Jay ordering a vanilla latte with less sweetness.
The collaboration has also introduced merchandise inspired by Jay’s artistic world and music career.
Collectible tumblers available in Singapore
According to Starbucks Singapore, the Jay Chou collaboration includes three stainless-steel tumbler designs featuring detachable accessories.
The merchandise is available through selected Starbucks outlets and the brand’s LazMall flagship store.
Prices range from S$49.90 to S$59.90.
