Angelina Jolie has sold her historic Los Angeles mansion for US$24.75 million, closing the chapter on the home where she raised her six children and signaling a major change in her long-term plans.
The 51-year-old actress sold the 1,021-square-meter estate in Los Feliz on Sept. 24, according to property records. She had purchased the mansion for US$24.5 million in 2017 and listed it for US$29.85 million in May 2026, meaning the final sale price was about US$5.1 million below the asking price.
The property is one of Los Angeles’ notable pieces of Hollywood history. Built in 1913 and designed by architect B. Cooper Corbett, the estate was acquired by legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille in 1916. DeMille later expanded the property by acquiring a neighboring home that had been occupied by Charlie Chaplin.
Set within the gated Laughlin Park enclave, the roughly two-acre property includes a six-bedroom, 10-bathroom main residence, a guest house and studio, swimming pool, pool house, fitness studio, tea house and a separate garage with a security station. The grounds also feature mature trees, expansive lawns and views toward the Hollywood Hills, Hollywood Sign and Griffith Observatory.
Jolie moved into the estate following her 2016 divorce filing from Brad Pitt, and the property became the family’s main Los Angeles home. She had previously said that she remained in Los Angeles partly because of her children and that she hoped to spend more time in Cambodia once her youngest children became adults.
That milestone arrived in July, when twins Knox and Vivienne turned 18. The change removed the age-related restriction Jolie had previously cited when discussing her plans to spend more time outside Los Angeles.
The sale does not mean Jolie has announced a single permanent new home. A source cited in reports said she has not yet decided where her long-term base will be and plans to divide her time among her adult children while spending more time in Cambodia.
Jolie’s departure from the property also comes as she continues to pursue work across film and creative projects. Her recent directing work includes Without Blood, while her Atelier Jolie creative collective has been exploring international expansion, including possible projects in Brazil, Vienna and Cambodia.
The mansion sale also closes a nearly decade-long chapter for a property that connected Jolie’s family life with Hollywood history. From DeMille’s ownership to Jolie’s years raising her children there, the estate has remained closely linked to major chapters in the entertainment industry’s story.
For Jolie, the US$24.75-million sale marks a significant change in where she lives and how she plans the next stage of her life, with Los Angeles no longer serving as the fixed base it once was.
