Alex Eala Returns Home for Historic Philippine Arena Tennis Showcase

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is set to return home for a major tennis showcase at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on Dec 8, where she will face Indonesia’s Janice Tjen in a headline exhibition match. The event, titled “Alex Eala Live: Game. Set. Celebrate,” will combine professional tennis with entertainment and activities celebrating Filipino sports.

The full-day event will feature youth tennis clinics, interactive fan experiences, live performances and a celebrity exhibition match, giving fans more than just the headline singles encounter. Philippine personalities including Anne Curtis and Piolo Pascual are also part of the programme.

The Philippine Arena, which can accommodate more than 50,000 spectators, also gives Eala’s homecoming a chance to set a new attendance record for a live tennis match. The current record stands at 51,954 spectators, set during the 2020 Match in Africa exhibition between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in Cape Town.

Fans can also expect a Southeast Asian showdown, with Eala taking on Tjen, another young player who has been making waves internationally. Their match is expected to be one of the main highlights of the December 8 celebration.

Ticket prices start at around ₱600, with the most expensive premium seats reaching more than ₱63,000. General ticket sales began on Sept 14, following a registration period and presale that ran earlier in the month.

For Eala, the event marks a special opportunity to play in front of Filipino fans after building her reputation on the international tennis circuit. Her homecoming also comes as interest in Philippine tennis continues to grow, with fans following her performances on the biggest stages.

With a massive venue, a packed entertainment programme and two of Southeast Asia’s rising tennis stars on court, the December event is shaping up to be one of the country’s biggest tennis showcases of 2026.
