MANILA, Philippines — It was a gathering that brought some of the biggest names in Philippine business out from behind their boardroom doors and into the same room.
Leechiu Property Consultants recently hosted “Cocktails & Connections,” an exclusive networking gathering that drew an unusually high concentration of the country’s most influential entrepreneurs and corporate executives—including Lance Gokongwei, Andrew Tan and Paolo Villar.
Also seen at the event were prominent business leaders Harley Sy, Edward Lee and Ernest Cu, along with Ayala Land President and CEO Meean Dy and Ayala Land Premier President Mike Jugo, according to reports and Leechiu Property Consultants’ own public acknowledgment of the gathering.
“It’s rare to get this crowd in one room, and we’re glad we did,” Leechiu Property Consultants said in a public post thanking guests who attended the event.
The guest list alone reflected the breadth of influence represented at the gathering—from conglomerates and property development to telecommunications, retail and other major sectors of the Philippine economy.
A Rare Room of Corporate Heavyweights
While no major business transaction or corporate partnership was announced in connection with the event, the gathering underscored something equally notable: the importance of relationships and personal networks at the highest levels of Philippine business.
Lance Gokongwei is one of the country’s most prominent corporate executives and a key figure in the Gokongwei business empire. Andrew Tan, meanwhile, is widely known for building one of the Philippines’ major property and conglomerate groups, while Paolo Villar represents one of the country’s most recognizable business families with significant interests across property and infrastructure-related sectors.
Their presence alongside executives such as Ernest Cu and Meean Dy made the evening a cross-section of some of the leaders shaping the country’s corporate and property landscape.
For Leechiu Property Consultants, bringing together this caliber of guests also highlights the growing role of networking platforms in the real estate industry, where relationships among developers, investors, occupiers and corporate decision-makers can often be as important as the properties themselves.
More Than Cocktails, More Than Conversation
At first glance, it may have been a night of drinks, introductions and catching up. But in a business environment where industries increasingly overlap—from real estate and retail to technology and infrastructure—having influential decision-makers in the same room naturally attracts attention.
That does not mean deals were struck behind closed doors. None were announced. But the gathering offered a rare glimpse of the people behind some of the Philippines’ biggest companies meeting outside the formal setting of earnings calls, boardrooms and corporate events.
And that may be what made Cocktails & Connections particularly noteworthy.
In a room filled with business leaders whose decisions can influence industries and investment strategies, sometimes the most interesting conversations are the ones the public never gets to hear.
One thing is certain: when this many corporate heavyweights show up for the same evening, people are bound to wonder—what conversations happened after the cameras stopped rolling?
