Canadian actor Simu Liu has married his fiancée, Allison Hsu, in France, nearly four years after the couple first became romantically linked.
The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star, 37, and Hsu, 30, tied the knot over the weekend of Oct. 3, according to reports from TMZ and a source who confirmed the marriage to PEOPLE.
The wedding comes more than a year after Liu proposed to Hsu in Paris in May 2025, giving the couple’s relationship another major milestone in France.
From Romance to Marriage
Liu and Hsu first went public with their relationship in November 2022, when Hsu shared a photo of the pair on Instagram.
They subsequently made their red-carpet debut together at the Los Angeles premiere of Violent Night on Nov. 29, 2022.
Liu later spoke openly about the relationship, describing Hsu as someone who had significantly changed his life.
In 2023, he said he felt “challenged and loved and cared for” in the relationship and praised the couple’s ability to support one another.
Paris Proposal
The couple announced their engagement on May 11, 2025, after Liu proposed in Paris with the Eiffel Tower providing the backdrop.
Hsu shared photos showing off her engagement ring and captioned the announcement, “Us forever.”
Liu also posted photos from the proposal, writing about their trips, quiet moments at home and the experiences they had shared together before adding that he chose her “forever and always.”
The proposal had an additional surprise for Hsu, who is a longtime Taylor Swift fan.
Liu revealed that he reached out to Swift’s team and asked whether the singer could record a short congratulatory message for Hsu. Swift agreed, sending a video that Liu played for his fiancée after the proposal.
Hsu’s Career in Music
While Liu is best known for his work in Hollywood, Hsu has built her own career in the music industry.
She works at Interscope Records, where she has risen through the company’s digital marketing operations. She was previously recognised on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list in music.
Her career also played a role in the couple’s relationship, with Liu previously explaining that music — including Swift’s songs — was part of how he came to understand Hsu during the early stages of their romance.
Wedding Follows a Year of Planning
Hsu appeared to hint that the wedding was approaching in September, when she shared photos from her bachelorette celebration in Tulum, Mexico.
The couple have now reportedly exchanged vows in France, although details about the ceremony, guest list and venue have not been publicly disclosed.
Neither Liu nor Hsu had publicly announced the wedding themselves at the time of the reports, with the news first emerging through entertainment media and sources close to the couple.
What’s Next for Simu Liu
The marriage comes as Liu continues to build his career in major Hollywood productions.
He rose to international prominence after playing the title role in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and later appeared as Ken in Barbie.
He is also set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release in Singapore on Dec. 17.
For Liu and Hsu, however, the latest milestone is a personal one: after going public with their relationship in 2022, becoming engaged in Paris in 2025 and now marrying in France, the couple have officially begun their next chapter as husband and wife.
