A 49-year-old man was arrested after authorities seized about P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City on Sunday night, September 20, 2026.
The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-Zamboanga Peninsula identified the suspect by the alias “Patricio,” a resident of Barangay Sinunuc.
The operation was conducted at around 10 p.m. along the bypass road in Purok 1, Barangay Sinunuc, following several days of surveillance. Police said the suspect agreed to sell illegal drugs to an undercover officer, leading to the operation and his arrest.
Authorities recovered approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu packed in four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets. The drugs were placed at an estimated street value of P6.8 million. Buy-bust money was also recovered during the operation.
Patricio was brought to Zamboanga City Police Station 8, where he remains detained while authorities prepare charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Investigators are also working to determine the source of the suspected shabu and establish the extent of the suspect’s alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The confiscated substance remains classified as suspected shabu pending the required examination and legal proceedings. The allegations against the suspect will likewise be resolved through the appropriate judicial process.
