A 28-year-old tricycle driver was wounded after he was allegedly shot by his neighbor following a heated confrontation in Barangay Bahay, Sibonga, Cebu, on the evening of September 20, 2026.
The victim, identified only as “Jun,” suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The alleged gunman, identified as 36-year-old “Jojo,” was later arrested by police during a hot-pursuit operation.
Police said Jun had been drinking with two friends, identified as “Romy” and “Carl,” outside a store in Purok 4 when Jojo suddenly arrived and challenged the group to a fistfight and shooting.
The confrontation reportedly turned physical after Jojo punched one of Jun’s companions, who retaliated. After the brief fight, Jojo left and returned to his home.
A few minutes later, however, police said Jojo came back armed and allegedly fired at Jun, hitting him in the right leg.
Jun managed to run toward a nearby house to hide while the suspect fled the area. Police later located Jojo and arrested him.
Authorities said they recovered a .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson revolver loaded with five live rounds and one spent cartridge, along with a 12.5-inch knife.
Jojo was brought to the Sibonga Municipal Police Station and is set to face a complaint for frustrated murder, according to police. The investigation and legal proceedings remain ongoing.
