A Singapore motorcyclist who stopped at a petrol station to refuel found herself unable to open her bike’s fuel cap — but two passing police officers unexpectedly stepped in to help.
The motorcyclist shared dashcam footage of the incident on TikTok on Sept. 20. In the video, she can be seen repeatedly trying to unlock the fuel cap with her key, tugging and wiggling it in an attempt to get the mechanism to work.
“All I wanted was to pump,” she wrote in the video.
A petrol station attendant initially approached her and suggested visiting a nearby workshop. Before she could leave, however, a uniformed police officer came over and offered to help.
The officer tried inserting and turning the key, but the fuel cap remained jammed. A second officer then joined him, with both men attempting different ways to get the cap open.
One officer could be seen using an Allen key, while the motorcyclist handed another officer a small wrench. Despite their efforts, the fuel tank still could not be opened.
The petrol station attendant eventually tried to help as well, but the video ended without showing whether the motorcyclist managed to unlock the cap.
The biker thanked the two officers and the petrol station worker for trying to assist her. The clip subsequently attracted more than 178,000 views, over 5,000 likes and more than 100 comments.
Some viewers suggested possible solutions, including using a lubricant such as WD-40 to help loosen a stubborn or rusty lock. One commenter said they had experienced a similar problem with a motorcycle fuel cap and found that lubrication helped release it.
AsiaOne reported that it was unclear whether the motorcyclist eventually managed to open the fuel tank and had reached out to her for more information.
What began as a routine stop to fill up quickly turned into an unexpected roadside rescue attempt — with two police officers putting their tools and patience to work over a stubborn fuel cap.
