Kate Beckinsale has sparked concern among fans after posting a series of cryptic messages on Instagram before deleting them.
On Sept. 20, the Underworld actress wiped the photos and videos from her Instagram account and left a single post showing the word “bye” in white lettering against a black background. Comments on the post were disabled and there was no accompanying caption.
She later shared an Instagram Story showing a rainbow above a road, accompanied by the message: “Congratulations you won. I give up.” That Story was also subsequently deleted.
Beckinsale also changed her Instagram bio to include a link to a 2020 BBC article about British television presenter Caroline Flack, who died by suicide that year. The combination of the posts and the link prompted fans to express concern across social media.
However, Beckinsale has not publicly explained what the messages meant, and her representatives had not responded to media requests for comment at the time of reporting. As a result, the reason behind the posts remains unclear.
The posts come only weeks after Beckinsale spoke publicly about her experience with post-traumatic stress disorder and grief.
In a since-deleted Instagram video shared on Sept. 2, the actress discussed how PTSD can affect people who have experienced severe trauma, describing the condition as something that can remain largely invisible to others. She encouraged people to show more understanding toward those dealing with trauma.
Beckinsale has also spoken about grieving the deaths of her mother, actress Judy Loe, who died in 2025, and her stepfather, director Roy Battersby, who died in 2024. In August, she addressed online criticism of her appearance and said grief and a medical condition had contributed to changes in her weight.
The actress has previously used Instagram to discuss difficult personal experiences, making the latest posts particularly noticeable to her followers. But without a direct explanation from Beckinsale, it remains impossible to know what prompted the messages or what she intended by them.
For now, fans are left with questions after the posts disappeared — and the uncertainty surrounding what Beckinsale was trying to communicate has only intensified the attention.
