Smart’s New LiveSmart App Promises More Savings — But the Real Surprise Goes Beyond Load and Bills

MANILA, Philippines — Smart Communications and its value mobile brand TNT are taking their latest digital push beyond simply selling mobile data.

The telecommunications companies have launched the LiveSmart App, a new platform that combines mobile loading, bill payments, exclusive offers and savings in one place — while also giving users access to limited-time perks that include an AI workspace featuring several major artificial intelligence models.

The app officially rolled out on September 18 and is available through both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Unlike a platform restricted to Smart subscribers, LiveSmart is also open to users of other mobile networks.

The move comes as Filipino consumers continue to look for ways to stretch household budgets amid higher everyday expenses.

More Than Just Another Load-and-Pay App

At its core, LiveSmart is designed to bring routine mobile transactions into a single platform.

Users can purchase load, pay Smart Postpaid bills and access special offers through the app. Smart and TNT are also using the platform to introduce discounts and cashback incentives that are not necessarily available through their regular channels.

Smart First Vice President and Officer-in-Charge Lloyd R. Manaloto said the platform was designed around consumers’ desire to get more value from every peso they spend.

The company is positioning LiveSmart not merely as another place to transact, but as a digital destination where users can discover savings and other services while handling everyday mobile needs.

The 5% Cashback Is One of the Biggest Draws

One of the headline incentives accompanying the launch is 5% cashback.

Smart and TNT subscribers can receive the cashback when purchasing load or paying a Smart Postpaid bill through the LiveSmart App, according to Smart’s launch announcement and reports from Philstar and BusinessMirror.

For consumers who already make those transactions regularly, the appeal is straightforward: the app gives them an additional incentive to move those purchases onto the new platform.

There are also app-exclusive mobile offers.

Smart Prepaid users can purchase Power All 109 for P105, while TNT customers can get Saya All 109 for P105 through the LiveSmart App, based on the launch offers reported by multiple outlets.

Then There’s the AI Twist

Perhaps the more unexpected part of the launch is the inclusion of AI.Smart.

New LiveSmart users may receive limited-time free access to AI.Smart, an AI workspace that brings several artificial intelligence models into a single experience.

The services identified in the launch materials include AWS Nova, ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini and Thinking Machines.

According to Smart, users can use the AI.Smart credits for tasks such as generating images, creating presentations, drafting documents and spreadsheets, as well as assistance with schoolwork and content creation.

To claim the promotional AI access, users need to tap the AI.Smart banner within LiveSmart and create an AI.Smart account using a Smart or TNT number.

That effectively gives the new app a purpose beyond telecommunications transactions.

Smart Is Expanding Its Digital Ecosystem

The launch also represents another step in Smart’s effort to expand the services surrounding its mobile business.

Smart already operates digital tools for account management, payments, promos and rewards. Its existing Smart App, for example, has historically allowed subscribers to monitor accounts, purchase load and data products, subscribe to promos and accumulate GigaPoints.

LiveSmart takes a somewhat different approach by emphasizing transactions, savings and lifestyle-related offers, rather than simply functioning as a traditional account-management application.

Smart has said additional deals and perks from lifestyle partners are expected to be added as the platform expands.

The Bigger Battle Is for the Consumer’s Everyday Spending

The significance of LiveSmart goes beyond its launch discounts.

Telecommunications companies increasingly compete not only for subscribers but also for the digital activities surrounding those subscribers — from payments and entertainment to rewards, shopping and other services.

By putting discounts, cashback and digital services alongside mobile transactions, Smart is attempting to give consumers another reason to open its app even when they are not actively buying data.

That strategy is also reflected in Smart’s broader push toward more personalized mobile products. Earlier this year, the company refreshed its Smart Prepaid Power All lineup with bundles targeting gaming, streaming, social media and productivity users.

LiveSmart Is Not Simply a Replacement for the Existing Smart App

One detail users should keep in mind is that LiveSmart is a separate platform, rather than simply being a renamed version of Smart’s existing account-management app.

That distinction matters because the functions and incentives being promoted are different.

The new app is focused heavily on transactions and deals, while Smart’s established digital ecosystem continues to offer account monitoring, data management and rewards functions.

The company will therefore need to demonstrate that LiveSmart offers enough additional value to persuade consumers to regularly use another app for tasks they may already perform through other platforms.

Smart’s 5G Network Is Part of the Pitch

Smart is also highlighting its network infrastructure alongside the application.

The company says LiveSmart is powered by Smart 5G, which it promotes for activities including video streaming, gaming and real-time social media sharing. Smart also cited an Ookla recognition for the Philippines’ Best Mobile Video Experience during the first half of 2026, with a reported Video Score of 72.82.

The network claim is separate from the app’s savings proposition, but it fits into Smart’s broader strategy of connecting its network, digital services and consumer offers into one ecosystem.

What Happens Next Could Be More Important Than the Launch

The initial incentives give Filipinos several reasons to test LiveSmart: cashback on qualifying transactions, cheaper app-exclusive data offers and limited-time access to AI.Smart.

But the bigger test will come after the launch promotions.

Smart has indicated that more lifestyle-partner deals and perks are coming. If those offers become sufficiently useful and frequent, LiveSmart could evolve from a transaction app into a broader consumer platform.

For now, the proposition is clear: Smart wants its newest app to be associated not only with spending money on mobile services, but also with finding ways to save it.

And with AI tools now part of the package, the company is signaling that LiveSmart is intended to be about considerably more than buying load.
